3 VENETIAN BLIND STRUCTURE INSTRUCTIONS 110 Cut on all of the solid lines Do nothing on the placeholder lines. Use glue on all TABS. Score and fold on all of the dashed lines. Use glue stick to laminate images or decorative paper. You will need: Part A: This part is already diecut for you. Part B: This part is already diecut for you. Part C: Cut this part out on the outside solid lines. Decoration: decorate BEFORE assembly PULL 1 Part A has already been die-cut for you. It is the front frame. Decorate Part A. Choose one of the many paper decoration options. Be sure to trim the inside rectangle exactly on the edges. If the decorative paper extends inward, it will create problems later. Optional...stamp PULL on the round tab. 2 Part B has already been die-cut for you. Make your first image on Part B. Make sure that the piece is not upside down... The top tab extends above the side tabs. Be sure to stay between the inside rectangle...the small tabs are not part of the image. If you are gluing an image onto the structure, please go to 3

4 111 VENETIAN BLIND STRUCTURE INSTRUCTIONS If you are gluing an image onto this structure, follow this step. 3 Your image should be 2 ½ inches wide by 4 inches high. Use glue stick to adhere the image onto the structure, between the tabs. Make sure the image does not extend beyond the cuts on top or bottom. Turn Part B over and use the Exacto knife to cut the three middle horizontal lines. 4 Decorate the space around your image with a color that goes with the Part A frame. 5 Fold all of the Venetian blind flaps up.

Put yellow stickie notes over the flipped up pieces to hold them in place when you decorate the back side. 7 Turn Part B back over to the front. Make your second image on Part B. Make sure that Part B is not upside down... There will be an open space at the bottom... Be sure to stay between the inside rectangle...the small tabs are not part of the image. If you are gluing an image onto the structure, please go to 3 If you are gluing an image onto this structure, follow this step. 8 Your image should be 2 ½ inches wide by 4 inches high. Use glue stick to adhere the image onto the structure, between the tabs. Make sure the image does not extend beyond the cuts on top or bottom. Turn Part B over and use the Exacto knife to cut the three middle horizontal lines.

6 113 VENETIAN BLIND STRUCTURE INSTRUCTIONS 9 Remove the yellow stickies from the back and flip Part B over to the front. 10 Squeeze a blob of glue onto a scrap of paper. Using a toothpick, put dots of glue on the lower tabs of each image section. Their locations are marked with red X s on the image to the right. Be sure not to put too much glue on each dot...if you do, the structure won t work. 11 Place the frame (Part A) over Part B and press it down. Make sure that you can see all four sides of the image on Part B on the inside of the frame. PU PULL Set these pieces aside to dry

7 VENETIAN BLIND STRUCTURE INSTRUCTIONS 114 Cut Part C out along the outside solid lines. 12 Decorate Part C with a third image. Only the part inside the dot/ dash placeholder line will show. If you are gluing an image onto this piece, the image should be 3 wide by 4½ tall. 13 Put a thin line of glue on the shaded area at the top and the bottom as shown. Place the front structure (Parts A and B) on top of the back piece, lining the edges up exactly. Work the pull tab back and forth a few times to make sure the mechanism works. Don t force it...if it doesn t work, check with MJ. Your Venetian blind structure is now finished. 14 When gluing the structure into your book, place a thin line of glue on the back as shown, keeping the glue in the middle of the structure. DO NOT glue on the upper or lower edges.
