3 PROGRAM Skip Patton gave an illustrated talk on his and Nancy s trip to Switzerland a few years ago. They flew into Zurich, toured Luzerne with its famous covered bridge over the lake, and rode a cable car up to the summit of Mt Pilates. A tour of Berne, the capital city, included the home of Albert Einstein with its original furnishings and tools. Einstein s notes were handwritten in a book, and his calculations were done on a slide rule. No computers then! The group rode the cog railway up to the little ski town of Engelberg, and another cable car ride took them to the top of Mt Titlis at 10,000 feet elevation for a great view of the Jungfrau, and a walk inside a living glacier. A two hour ride on another cog railway took them to Interlaken. Skip s pictures of the fabulous snow covered Alps were breathtaking, and he emphasized the constant evidence of clocks in the country. They are one of the major industries; Swiss timepieces are known world-wide and almost all of them are analog with the familiar face and hands. Thanks for a very enjoyable program, Skip! HAPPY DOLLARS $ John Brownrigg: They say no pain, no gain, and if that s true, I must have gained a LOT! Thankfully my surgery was successfully completed, and OVER! $ Jim Rogers: Joanne and I had a pleasant trip to Plymouth to participate in the Congress of the Mayflower Society, which is held every three years! $ Jim Parslow: Our daughter Sarah has announced that she has another baby coming! $ Nancy Davis: Thanks to Skip for those wonderful pictures! $ President Stu: Just had the Grand Opening of my condo development in Brunswick! DOOR PRIZE, an IOU from Skip, was won by Dave Booker! 50/50 for $24 was won by Jim Rogers! PROGRESSIVE 50/50, worth $ this week, didn t give up that King of Clubs. Eve Ward s ticket was picked, but she could only find the 9 of Hearts from the 47 cards!
