CS 445 Project Presentations LongShot Pat O Hara, Mike Nolop and Mateo Jara Using a Webcam, GPS, sonar and a Linux board they are going to attempt to recreate the Mars Rover except without the harsh elements and using GPS as a guide. They want to navigate the robot using a Internet connection and map the destination using Google Maps or I say a static Map. Debian Linux board The Bobcat Skeleton (emaxx truck chassis) Voltage Regulator of choice GPS Module if needed Logitech QuickCam Parrallax Servo Controller Parts Needed to Order: Voltage Regulator (Wed. during class). LegoFreakZone Nick Jurich, Li Zhang, Randall Reynolds They are going to create a working assembly line of communicating pieces. They said three NXT, and I say 3 NXT and two Mindstorm bricks being programmed by Python, Java, PBForth or another high level language. Sorting, communicating, cooperating, and fun to watch will all be part of this Lego Land o Magic. 3 Lego NXT controllers with BlueTooth 2 Mindstorm kits without BlueTooth All the software needed to download Parts Needed to Order: Any extra sensors??
BarKeep Josh Strissel and David Hybner Using a robotic arm they will create a bartender that will mix drinks as well as being interactive with the user. The arm will tell (bad) jokes while it sloshes colored liquids into a glass. It will use color recognition to find the right mix for your choice of tantalizing cocktails. No lubricating refreshments will be served by the BarKeep until the driving robots have given up their batteries. (No adult beverages will be used). Robotic Arm Choice of Java Board or BOE Basic Stamp Speech Module (It will need to talk) IR (2) CMUCam If needed (color liquid detection would be nice) Please Turn It Down Nick Combs and Michael Schuld They are going to take an analog voice signal and do sound processing on the Linux boards so they can output what I can only imagine is going to be irritating forms of audio abuse. They will also need to capture and recognize a few simple words, a library of 3 words matching analog signals. Microphone (still searching, but I have a crappy one) Speaker outputs USB Sound Adapter (will be purchased) Arm Linux Board Parts Needed to Order: USBSound Adapter (Wed. during class) You Are Here We think Barrett Fuhrmann, Kyle Miller, Brett Bukowski Equipped only with a IntelliBrainBot and a room full of objects they will randomly traverse the room looking for objects and mapping them to a 2D space back at the Mother Ship. The Mother
Ship in this case will be a PC communicating over BlueTooth with the IntelliBrainBot. And the robot will also have wheel encoders, a compass, UltraSound and IR. Intellibrain Robot Compass IR BlueTooth Wheel Encoders CMUCAm if needed, probably won t need The Hokey Pokey Aric Walker, William Hosbein, Jared Hedegaard I put my right foot in, now you do it. Using some very subliminal swarm intelligence they are going to create a follower the leader game using the BlueTooth comms, and they will also need compasses, and wheel encoders to track their position changes. They will dance in the pale moonlight together. 3 Intellibrain Robots 3 BlueTooth Serial Modules 3 Wheel encoders 3 Compasses Parts Needed to Order: Possible RF transmitters, we need to find out fast.
Andy Johnson I dated some girls that thought I belonged to this URL. Andy is going to do a Internet controlled Robot. Live video from a Webcam to a browser with joystick type controls. The BTC 1080 studio has asked to put this robot on display in the lobby of the EPS building. No pressure Andy. The small blue robot chassis The Pololu servo controller The Linux Arm board A Logitech USB Cam that will hopefully work with Debian. Das Hindenburg 2.0 William Johnston and Jeff Hickey They are going to recreate the Snoopy Blimp. But make Snoopy smart. Helium balloons and electronics, what could go wrong? A finite, very finite amount of helium (I don t want to hear any funny voices, no breathing it) Two sonar, or IR Controller of some kind??? Power??? Parts Needed to Order: Balloons, helium, controller, board, power, possibly.
Big (Dreams and Wishes) Dog Derek Cross A four legged walking creature that will complete the Walker Race and do other tricks Derek teaches it. Nobody is allowed to kick it over until he gets that part programmed in (Give him a week). Servos, my whole stash. Intellibrain board or Basic Stamp board Parralax servo controller PVC materials Brackets and screws
