Is a robotic building system consisting of: NXT Intelligent Brick: the BRAIN of the system Versatile LEGO TECHNIC elements
Is a robotic building system consisting of: NXT Intelligent Brick: the BRAIN of the system Versatile LEGO TECHNIC elements State-of-the-art sensors and servo-motors
Is a robotic building system consisting of: NXT Intelligent Brick: the BRAIN of the system Versatile LEGO TECHNIC elements State-of-the-art sensors and servo-motors Easy to use Drag and Drop Programming Software
Lego Parts
Interactive Servo Motors The three Servo Motors give your robot the ability to move. By using the Move block in the programming software, you can synchronize the motors to move in a straight line or follow a curve Each motor has a built-in rotation sensor that allows you to control your robot s movements in precise, one degree steps
Built-in rotation sensors ( servo )
Sensors - I The Ultrasonic Sensor It is one of the two sensors that gives your robot vision. It enables the robot to detect and see objects. You can also use it to make your robot avoid obstacles, sense and measure distance, and detect movement. The sensor uses sonar, just like bats do: it measures distance by calculating the time it takes for a sound wave to hit an object and return just like an echo Range: cm Precision: +/- 3 cm
Sensors - II The Light Sensor It is the other sensor that gives your robot vision. It enables your robot to distinguish between light and dark. It can read the light intensity in a room and measure the light intensity of colored objects Be careful: It is not a color sensor:
Sensors - III The Sound Sensor It allows your robot to hear It can detect both decibels (db) and adjusted decibels (dba) (A decibel is a measurement of sound pressure) db: the sensor is unadjusted to the sensitivity of the human ear and therefore will pick up sounds that may be too high or too low for the human ear to hear on its own dba: the sensor is adapted to the sensitivity of the human ear. These are sounds that your ear is able to hear
Sensors - IV The Touch Sensor It gives your robot a sense of touch It detects when it is being pressed by something and when it is released again
NXT Intelligent Brick - I The NXT Intelligent Brick is the brain of the robot. It s an intelligent, computer controlled LEGO brick that makes your robot come alive and perform different operations and functions.
NXT Intelligent Brick - II (Motor ports) (Sensor ports)
Finally
NXT-G graphical programming language Program by drawing a flow chart
NXT-G PC program interface
NXT-G tools Pointer tool: move blocks, select blocks Pan tool: move within workspace Comment tool: add notes to your code
Intro to NXT-G: Palettes Common: Complete: Custom: Most All blocks Own blocks commonly used blocks
Writing a Basic Program Drag and drop block(s) on sequence beam Manipulate Configuration Panel & Download
Intro to NXT-G: Controller NXT Window Download & Run Selection Download Stop Download & Run
A note about NXT memory Memory space is limited! To clear space, use NXT window Show and delete system files for more space
NXT Structure: Loops
NXT structure : Switch
Applications - I Program your bot to drive forward until you are 20 cm far from the wall
Applications II Move your robot within the black area of the Sumo field
Applications - III Move your robot in a straight line until it detects a white line, your robot should then display its distance from the wall
Challenges Obstacle Avoider Captain Majed
