GENEAL 1.01 hi ection i reiued to: Delete Speakerphone Sytem No. la and lal connection Add Speakerphone Sytem No. 4A connection to Fig. 2, 3, and DENFCA PUPOSE 2.01 he 237 type key telephone unit (KU) (Fig. 1) provide for bridging of two line for a 3way conference in the following arrangement: 615/16 N. A central office (CO) line and a PX line wo PX line or two CO line Note: ranmiion quality cannot be guaranteed when two CO line are bridged. A CO or PX line and an intercom line. APPLCA CO or PX line ued in Key elephone Sytem No. la, lal, or 1A2. DESGN FEAUES Circuit can be operated by excluion witch, external nonlocking key, or converted line pickup key. Circuit buy lamp when line pickup key i ued. Control tation can leave conference by placing line on hold and remaining offhook, allowing other partie to continue converation without tranmiion lo. Fig Key elephone Unit Circuit may be controlled by two tation when diode protection i locally furnihed. Either control tation can diconnect from conference leaving two partie to continue conference. Compatible with peakerphone. Circuit i arranged to cancel conference when handet i placed onhook or peakerphone i returned to American elephone and elegraph Company, 1974 Printed in U.S.A. Page 1
2 SEC One of the conference line may be diconnected by returning excluion key to normal or by operating the nonlocking key. No operator aitance neceary. 3. MEHOD OF OPEA 3.01 nitiating a Conference Call: (1) Etablih a call (either an incoming or outgoing call) on either of the line aociated with the bridging circuit. (2) Place call on HOLD. Note: Under certain condition, it i poible to etablih a call on the other line without placing the firt call on HOLD. hi i undeirable ince the firt party hear the dialing ignal which are intolerably loud under thee condition. (3) Etablih a call on the other line aociated with the bridging circuit. (4) Operate the bridging key when both partie are available, thereby conferencing both line Leaving a Conference Call (Control Party Only): (1) Operate the hold key. (2) Operate a third pickup key to anwer or etablih a call on another line. Note: he control party may return to the conference by reoperating either of the two aociated pickup key. However, when a conference i placed on HOLD, tranmiion loe are introduced by the holding bridge which may prevent the remaining conferee from continuing the conference until the control party return eleaing a Conference Call: (1) Control partyplace handet onhook or (2) eturn manual excluion key to normal or (3) Operate peakerphone OFF button. Note: he control party can remain connected to either line after the conference ha been releaed by depreing the pickup key for the line which i to remain connected, and momentarily operating the nonlocking key or retoring the excluion key to normal. 4. CNECS 4.01 When a nonlocking key i ued to control the bridging circuit, a locally provided KS15724, Lit 1 diode (or equivalent) mut be intalled in the A lead of the control tation et. For KS15724 diode connection, refer to "Station uy Lamp" option for the particular et in the aociated connection ection. Failure to intall the diode may caue damage to tranitor Q3, a fale hold condition, or both, in the 400D KU line circuit. hee condition are caued when the control tation goe onhook after a conference i completed. wostation Control 4.02 When two tation are connected to the bridging circuit, each of the tation et may independently or jointly control the circuit. When the circuit i connected to two tation et, operation i the ame a when connected to only one tation et. Note: When two tation et are to be provided with bridging circuit control by uing nonlocking key, two KS15724, Lit 1 (or equivalent) diode mut be locally upplied and connected a hown in Fig When one of the two control tation i uing the bridging circuit and the other tation goe offhook, the L lead from each telephone et will provide a locking path for the operated circuit. f the firt tation terminate the call before the econd tation, the nonlocking control key on the telephone et at the firt tation mut be momentarily operated to releae the bridging circuit When one tation i uing the bridging circuit and the other tation i not in ue, the circuit will releae when the tation goe onhook or the peakerphone i turned off When a conference call i in a held condition, the bridging circuit remain operated.
