3 With such beautiful weather we could all be out catching images for our next assignment of textures and fall colours. It s the perfect time of year for both of these topics except that summer seems to be hanging on and not wanting to leave us. But then, we all know that it will end and hopefully it won t be too much of a shock with a severe change in weather. And if it is, bundle up and get out there. If not, still life can always be your back up. WCC has a bunch of planned outings for us to take advantage of starting this month. See page 19 for the list. And don t forget to show us your creativeness in all of those lovely images. Once again, congratulations to our WCC members who were successful at the October GDCCC competition. Winners are listed on page 18. On a personal note, I recently returned from a trip to South America. My camera failed me as I was out sight seeing early in the trip and I was almost beside myself as that is how I preserve my memories from travel. I am not a shopper so for me, images are what it s all about. Fortunately I had brought along a small point and shoot and was able to continue to shoot but was not happy about not having my bigger camera. I had been contemplating a new camera for some months prior to this but did not have the time to do anything about it. Aside from photography, I do love to read. There are always a few tidbits that can be picked up about many subjects just by reading. Here s another few tidbits that I read in a blog post by Addicted to Photo: 1. More gear won t make you a better photographer 2. There is no knack 3. You ve got to be patient 4. There is nothing wrong with being an amateur 5. Post processing is a tool, not a crutch. These are all truths I know and I m sure we are all well aware of..but I still want a new camera. So the hunting continues and hopefully I will fulfill my own wish in the near future.
