2 2012 Officers The Pilchuck Camera Club Newsletter Serving members from the Puget Sound Area of Washington State The Pilchuck Camera Club was organized June 12, 1964 and is a member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the Northwest Council of Camera Clubs (NWCCC). Membership is open to anyone interested in color or monochromatic digital photography. Club meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month in the Baker Heights Social Hall, 1401 Poplar Street, Everett, WA.. 3 PILCHUCK CAMERA CLUB MINUTES OCTOBER 11, 2012 BY SONYA LANG SECRETARY The regular meeting of the Pilchuck Camera Club was called to order by President Steve Lightle at 7:15pm. There were 16 members present and 1 guest, Tom Detchemandy. The minutes of the September meeting were approved as written. Correspondence received: None Treasurer s report: Treasurer Bob Patrick reported $ in the treasury. Committee Reports: Membership: None Social: Need sign ups starting in January Sunshine: None PSA Representative: Bill Dewey states no report. NWCCC: Renata reported on the conference to be held in Bellingham at Whatcom County CC Campus on November 10 th. Adam Jones Canon Explorer of light will be the featured speaker. Registration information can be found on the NWCCC website and it will also be added to PCC website. Field Trips: Steve reported on the trip in September to Yellowstone. Participants all agreed that it was a photographically productive and fun trip. Thank you to Steve for planning that and driving. Nothing else planned at this time. Vice President Bill Dewey presented certificates for September club competitions. Image Competition: Image registration by Jim Basinger and projection by Steve Lightle. Number of images: 34 Regular, 7 Make ups, 19 Nature Judges: David VanKeuren, Greg Thomas, Janet Wright. Tabulation: Jim Basinger Announcements: Old business: Bill Dewey reported on the projector image quality issue and the projector cost research he had done. He checked into the cost of a higher end projector and found the price range to be very high and suggested trying to add a monitor for judges to use for judging instead of obtaining another projector. A motion was passed for Bill to spend up to $ to obtain an additional monitor for judging purposes. New business: Steve Lightle asked for volunteers to handle the Annual Image Competition & Annual Banquet in March. Annual Image Competition includes subject of the year, image of the year and wildflower of the year. Sonya Lang and Sharon Ely volunteered for that. Bill Dewey volunteered to handle the planning and details of the Banquet in March. 4 COVER SHOT SUNSET BY RENATA KLEINERT The image was made at sunset with a Cannon 5D, Cannon IS Zoom. Taken at ISO 100, F16, 1/30 of sec. using my new tripod a Carbon Gitzo GT This image was taken in Mosses Lake when the forest fires make a very nice colored sunset. The tree seemed to frame the image for me. St Peter and Lucifer were at the gates admiring the clouds when the subject got onto photography. They couldn t agree whether Heaven or Hell had the best photographers so they decided to arrange a photo contest. St Peter rubbed his hands with glee and Lucifer demanded to know why he was looking so smug. Well, said St Peter, in Heaven we have all the best photographers Lucifer slowly raised his head, grinned and replied Ah, but we have all the judges The Pilchucker 4 November 2012
