4 Volunteer Opportunities It takes a village to make Retreat a success, so we re reaching out to our stitching community for volunteers who can help. The registration form lists a variety of volunteer opportunities (described below). You can make a difference by serving in any capacity; please help us out by marking your preferences when you register. We ask that every attendee sign up for at least one opportunity. Retreat Buddy: Each first-time attendee will be assigned a Retreat buddy. Duties will include contacting the first-timer prior to Retreat to introduce yourself, meeting the first-timer, helping find the assigned rooms, and giving a guided tour of the Retreat Center. Teacher Transportation: The only teacher in need of transportation to and from the airport is Margaret Bendig. Cathy Habermann and Lisa Binkley are driving. If you would like some extra time to visit with Margaret and Bend her ear (get it?) about needlepoint, this is a great opportunity. Responsibilities include contacting Margaret prior to Retreat, picking her up at the airport, and transporting her from the airport to the Retreat Center. Any expenses, including mileage, may be reimbursed by the Guild upon receipt of a check request with appropriate receipts. Greeter: Greeters work in teams to ensure that everyone is checked in. They not only greet the arriving attendees, but may also unload items from their cars and help cart luggage to the rooms. The Retreat Center has only three luggage carts so greeters also manage their use and promptly return carts to the entryway. Show and Tell: Several shifts of volunteers are needed for our exhibit. They assist in preparing the area by moving chairs and setting up tables. They take in items, help with entry forms, and assist in creating the display. They also sit in the display room during Show and Tell public hours. Sunday Roundup: Volunteers double check that everything belonging to our members is out and collect extension cords and other Guild property. In general, they see that we leave the place in good shape. Class Angel: This includes helping the teacher set up and tear down in the classroom, making announcements, ensuring breaks are timely, and acting as the teacher s go-for. Angels also act as liaison between Retreat participants and Retreat chairs through daily announcements, attendance, etc. Each independent study room will also have a class angel. Paper Registration Instructions 1. Complete both pages of the registration form found at the end of this document. Use the Class and Activity grid and the next three steps to guide your selection of classes. Please print clearly (excluding the Waiver, which must be signed). Carefully read the Retreat Policies (second page) and the Payment Options and Changes and Cancellations Policy (third page). 2. Write a check (or checks) payable to Needlework Guild of Minnesota for the total shown on your registration form. If you have Guild dollars or a scholarship, subtract the value of the certificate(s) from the total and write a check (or checks) for the balance. 3. Address a business envelope to: Needlework Guild of MN, PO Box 16506, St. Louis Park, MN In your envelope, include the following: Payment (one or two checks) Guild dollars or scholarship certificate(s) must be included!
