Now is the time to enjoy this beautiful WARM weather with our friends & families. However, if you need a break REMEMBER to come to Social Quilting at SOS this summer. Please check your newsletter for dates. There is an earlier start and a light meal served to all those attending. Also it will be your drop off zone for your Quilt Show Entries, Silent Auction and Raffle Basket items. At May s board meeting our new officers were welcomed. The retiring officers handed off their files to their new replacements. Please feel free to contact any of your old / and / new board members with any concerns or suggestions you might have to make our guild stronger, more informative, and fun for all. Remember to turn in your Raffle Ticket Money to Rita Fagan. Don t wait till the Quilt Show, as you must have your Raffle Tickets paid for to enter a quilt in the show. Are you a member of a BEE? - We are still interested in hearing about your Bee: o What is your Bee s name? o What is the theme of your Bee Applique, Hand Piecing, Machine Quilting? o Do you meet during the day or evening? 2 MEMBERSHIP BOOK Membership Chair will be putting the new membership book together over the summer. The book is our resource to learning who everyone is. Renewals received after June 1st will be $ A renewal form is in this newsletter and you must be a member in good standing to enter a quilt in the Quilt Show. In order to accomplish this, members are asked to share their interests, time and talents generously to better our guild. Each member is automatically required to donate two hours of time to the quilt show. Following are the areas in which members are required to participate. Please remember that more hands make less work. Joining in is the only way to get to know others, and share experiences and knowledge. How can we count on you? Please check your areas of interest! Program: i.e.: Assisting the speaker by holding folding quilts. Speaker transportation Business Meeting: i.e.: Assisting with Show and Tell. Set up speaker system. Room set up and take down. Library: i.e. Assist librarian with check-in and check-out and moving the cart. Hospitality: i.e. Assist chairperson with refreshments. Social Quilting: Teaching new methods or projects. SOS Workshops: i.e. Making quilts for the SOS Village Children. Heritage Quilters Guild Quilt Show: i.e. Travel with raffle quilt. MEMBERSHIP OBLIGATIONS: Serve on a committee, work at special events (i.e. Quilt Show), sell or purchase Guild raffle tickets assigned to you, provide refreshments at least once a year at a membership meeting, and otherwise volunteer your time and talent to support the Guild. This is not a lot of time. So please put us on your summer schedule. We will accept anything you would like to make. Variety is a wonderful thing. Crafts, Purses, Totes, Throws, Baby items, quilted or knitted, crocheted items, Wall hangings, Table toppers. Unquilted tops are the only unfinished item we would want to display. You can drop them off at Social Quilting, SOS, or to either one of our homes, please call first to make sure we are home. I (Sue) can also pick up donations if the need arises. When you make your item please think about what minimum bid you would like to see on your item. For instance I have a throw and will put a $15.00 dollar minimum bid for the fabric exceeds this amount. When you turn in your item please pin a note to it with your name and minimum bid attached. The more items we have the more money we can make to help us with guild functions. We are so looking forward to seeing all the wonderful things that all of you will make.
