5 Sad News Madelyn Gibbs Please take some time on August 3rd to quilt and remember Madeleine and all that she did for quilting in Colorado. She joined CQC in October of 1978 and was a charter member. She worked at Quilts and Other Comforts, was a Hall of Fame Member in 1990, was the Co-Chair of the first Capitol Quilt Show. She also chaired the Hall of Fame Committee, and worked on many of the Quilt Colorado events. She will be dearly missed.

6 Legacy of Our Founding Mothers We are going to begin to recognize the 6 women took the Colorado Quilting Council from a dream to an organization of women and men who have preserved the heritage of quilting as well as celebrated all that is quilting in Colorado. 7 July Betty McGahhey This month we honor Betty McGahhey. Betty too the conversation on the back steps of the Burns Memorial Church and sent our invitation to her friends asking that they invite their friends and meet at the Hiwan Homestead on July 22, 1978.

11 CQC 40 th Anniversary Signature Quilt We are so excited to have Sally Saulmon, a long time CQC member and Colorado teacher/lecturer on Signature Quilts and Two Block Quilts design and create a quilt for our collection. We are ready to unveil the top. It is gorgeous and perfect!!!

19 Help us save postage and deliver our publicity to local Shops & Guilds Be a Guild Liaison for CQC Do you attend another Quilt Guild Meeting somewhere in the state? Would you be willing to take flyers to the meeting and give an announcement about our upcoming speakers or events? See Laurel Hoppes to be this representative. We want to use social media and word of mouth this year to publicize CQC and get more quilters involved in our statewide quilting guild.

20 Fall Retreat October 5 th, 6 th, and 7 th 2018 This year we will be at The Hideaway in the Black Forest again. Our teacher will be Wendy Matheson from Poway CA for a workshop about Storm at Sea. See Registration Form on the Website and in the June Newsletter. 1) I have 19 registrations, some have roommates listed that have not registered yet, those not registered are highlighted 2) The pattern for the community block is completed and a sample quilt is pieced (quilting not completed) 3) Registration forms are available at the retreat table

21 Project Warm Hearts Nancy Samuel, and JaNelle Erickson our Project Warm Hearts Co-Chairs New block is in the June Newsletter The Pinwheel Block should measure 8 1/2 X 8 1/2 inches unfinished. We want to hit 100 Charity Quilts this year!! Look for sew days and make some blocks to support this committee. The new pattern is in the Newsletter.

23 Gifts & Grants As a thank you to CQC, Gifts & Grants, and Patsy Serna the kids this summer at Quilt Camp sewed 39 charity squares for Warm Hearts. We had a total of 12 girls, their ages ranging from 10 to 15 participate. They really enjoyed their two weeks of creativity and fun.

Quilt-a- Fair 2018 Committee Meetings The first Saturday of each month at Mary Rush s Meeting Room. Join the committee to plan the next show. Everyone is welcome. Come and be part of the planning of our annual fund raising event. See newsletter for dates and address. Are you making your Red & White Quilt and/or Small Wall Quilt The quilt show at QAF will be Red & White Quilts, anything made or purchased in the last 40 years. Minimum 52 Maximum 120 Make a wall hanging/quilt for the return of the Mini Auction 70% of the selling price goes to the maker, 30% to CQC. Auction will be Saturday September 22, 2018 to wrap up the Quilt-a- Fair. The form is in the newsletter and on the website. Small Quilts 1) Please add your address to your registration form so you can be paid for your share of the auction proceeds! 2) 3 Quilts submitted, 9 quilts coming 3) If you are planning on submitting a quilt I have forms available here for you to attach with your quilt
