1 A few notes about PDF patterns from Designs by Jude.... This PDF pattern requires legal size paper (8.5 x 14 ) or A4 size paper (8.27 x 11.69, 210mm x 297mm). It will not print on standard letter. Patterns containing larger pieces will need to be taped together before cutting out the fabric. Be advised that this document needs to be printed to it s original scale. Please ensure that the printing options below are not selected. Do Not: Rotate and Center, Fit to Page, Reduce to Fit or adjust the scale of this document. 3 Designs by Jude Velvet Rumors for 17 Evangeline Ghastly Fabric: Velvet, velveteen, satin, brocade or similar fabrics Lining: Silkessence or polyester Notions: Matching thread, 5 count 4/0 snap sets, optional trims Achieve professional results by following a few rules 1. Press garment as you work through each step. Press seams open and flat where applicable. 2. Tie darts and other loose ends of thread off, rather than backstitching. Sewing Directions Jacket Top Unless otherwise stated on pattern pieces or specific instruction steps, all seam allowances for this garment are ¼. 1) With right sides together sew Top Front darts. Repeat this step for Top Front Lining. 2) Sew darts in top back. Repeat this step for top lining. 3) With right sides together sew Top Front to Top Back at shoulder seam. Repeat this step for lining. 4) Hem sleeve ruffle edges. Stack layers and run a gather stitch along the top raw edges. 5) Gather to fit the sleeve edge, pin in place and sew. Press ruffle down. 6) Fold lower edge of sleeve lining up ¼ inch and press. 7) Run a gather stitch around the sleeve cap. Gather to fit arm opening. 8) With right sides together, sew sleeve to the Top. Repeat sewing sleeve lining to the top lining. 9) Sew side seams of the Top. Repeat with the lining. 10) Check the fit to the doll. Make any adjustments to the darts before sewing the lining to the jacket. 11) With right sides together, pin the lining to the jacket. 12) Sew from the jacket hem all the way around, leaving an opening in the jacket hem for turning. 13) Pull the sleeve lining into the sleeves. 14) Finish the hem opening and attach sleeve lining to sleeve edge by hand. 15) Finish the Top with decorative buttons and snaps to close. Gored Skirt 1) With right sides together sew the three front sections together. Press seams open. 2) Sew back sections to skirt front sections at the side seams. Press seams open. 3) Serge both back openings edges. 4) Hem the skirt 5) With right side together sew the center back seam from the hem to the dot indicated on the pattern. 6) Serge lower edge of waistband. 7) Pin waistband to skirt with right sides together. 8) Turn waistband to inside of skirt and hand stitch in place. 9) Fit to doll. 10) Finish back of the skit with snaps.
