2 The Wrap Skirt 2 The Wrap Skirt is a great beginner sewing project, or a quick and easy sew for a more experienced sewist. The Wrap Skirt is a simple vintage inspired A-line wrap skirt with button closures at the front. The skirt is designed to sit on the natural waist and fall to the knee. The pattern is available in sizes XS-XL. The button placement allows you to tailor it for a perfect fit Fabric: cotton, denim, corduroy, linen. Most fabrics with a medium weight would work perfectly. Notions: 2 buttons **ALWAYS PREWASH YOUR FABRIC BEFORE STARTING** Assumptions: All seam allowances are 5/8 inch or 1.5cm. Always backstitch at the beginning and end of a row of stitches. Always press a seam after sewing. Finish seams with a serger/overlocker or a zig zag stitch. Always make a muslin first to ensure the perfect fit. 4 The Wrap Skirt 4 Sewing Instructions: 1. Sew the side seams. Place front and back pieces together, right sides together, matching notches and sew. Finish seam and press seam to the back. Repeat with the other front piece. 2. Fold under the side edges 1/4 inch and press. Fold under another 3/4 inch, this will line up with the line marking, and press. 5 The Wrap Skirt 5 3. Fold the long edges of the waistband piece under 5/8 inch toward the wrong side and press. 4. Open one of the long folded edge of the waistband and pin to the top edge of the skirt, right sides together. The waistband will hang over the edge by 1/2 inch. Sew along the fold, 5/8 inch. 6 The Wrap Skirt 6 5. Fold the waistband back on itself, right sides together. Line the folded edge with the seam you just made. Sew along the short end of the waistband, in line with the edge of the skirt. 6. Turn the waistband right side out, press and pin. Topstitch the waistband along the seam attaching the skirt to waistband, making sure you catch the waistband on the inside of the skirt Patterns & Projects. All right reserved. 7 The Wrap Skirt 7 7. Hem the skirt. Fold the hem under 1/4 inch and press. Fold under another 1/2 inch and press. Sew along the folded edge. 8. Sew the buttonholes and buttons. Try the skirt on and mark where you want your buttonholes and buttons. Sew the buttonhole on the far left of the right front panel first. Sew the corresponding button and check for fit. Once you are happy, sew the other buttonhole and button. 9. Share your creations! I d love to see them!
