1 Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce E-newsletter Butter Churn - Good Ol Country Cookin January 2017 Member of the Month The Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce named the Butter Churn Restaurant the January 2017 Business of the Month. The Butter Churn opened Oct. 3, 1995 in Sinton, Texas. The Aransas Pass location opened on West Wheeler April 7, The restaurant was moved to its new location at 1275 Highway 35 Bypass on Dec. 9, Owner Mark Kenne said, We are proud to be family owned and operated. We currently employ close to 70 people and our motto is Welcome to the Family. Come spend some time with us and become a part of our ever-growing family. We offer an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring Good Ol Country Cookin. Your experience with us will leave you feeling like you are eating at Granny s house. You ll find more than 70 items on our salad bar, with fresh cut vegetables and salads made fresh daily. The buffet offers a variety of entrees and vegetables along with fresh baked corn bread and hot rolls. Every evening at 4 o clock, we add sirloin steak, chicken fried steak, grilled chicken, fried fish, and other premium entrees. We cut our steaks in-house and hand bread the fish and chicken fried steak. Come out for fried chicken on Thursdays and Saturdays. 2 80th Annual Banquet January 28, 2017 The 80th annual Chamber Banquet held Jan. 28, 2017, with the theme, Light Up the Night, included the presentation of awards, dinner, and the announcement of officers and directors. Entertainment featured Derek Spence in A Tribute to George Strait. Guests also had the opportunity to bid on several prize packages in a silent auction and a Chinese auction, and participate in a live auction featuring delicacies created by area bakers. The 2017 board of directors announced are: Chairman - Bill Denton; Executive Officers - Vic Medina (past chairman), Rudy Abrego (immediate past chairman), Joe Zamudio, and Police Chief Eric Blanchard; and directors - Martin Salazar, Mark Kemp, Pat Fenton, Sherri Tringali, Martin De Los Santos, Sara Lee, Jacob Quintana, Debbie Aylesworth, Dee Jae Sullinger, Ian Hughes, Alex Hinojosa, Lisa Roland, Yvonne Hickel, Donald Volz Leanna Wilson, and Carrie Scruggs. 3 January 2017 Luncheon The January Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce luncheon held Jan. 17 featured speakers from ExxonMobil Gulf Coast Ventures, represented by Rob Tully and John Mabry, to explain the project. ExxonMobil and SABIC (Saudi Arabia Basic Industries Corp.) are evaluating jointly building a plastics manufacturing facility along the U.S. Gulf Coast. The project, Gulf Coast Growth Ventures, is a unique opportunity created by the abundance of low cost U.S. natural gas. ExxonMobil and SABIC have worked together in petrochemical ventures for more than 35 years.

The Chamber is proud and honored to have each and everyone of them as a volunteer. Chamber hosts appreciation mixer to thank volunteers A special Mix & Mingle designed just for the Harbor City Slicker Committee was held to thank them for their service to the Chamber. The dynamic committee was presented with personal gifts from Chamber CEO Rosemary Vega as a reminder their dedication and volunteer contributions to the Chamber are extremely appreciated. The HCS committee is open to any member of the Chamber. Members will get more from your Chamber membership when you actively participate. You and your business will gain recognition at all chamber functions you attend. The committee was developed for members to assist with the coordination of the many existing Chamber of Commerce events as well as spearhead new and innovative events. Monthly meetings are held just prior to the presentation of Business of the Month Award and start at 11:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. Mark your calendar and let the Chamber staff know you will be attending.

Price spoke specifically about the role in public service as a justice of the peace. Other guest speakers included a representative from the office of Aransas Pass Municipal Court Judge Henri Morales, Aransas Pass Planning and Zoning Board member Randall Freeze, Aransas County Precinct 1 Commissioner Precinct 1 Jack Chaney, San Patricio County Judge Terry Simpson, Beverly Moore from the Office of Texas State Representative J.M. Lozano, and J.D. Kennedy, District Director from United States Congressman Blake Farenthold s office. Farenthold, of the 27th District of Texas, conducted a video call with the class to discuss issues and concerns. This session was designed for participants to gain a better understanding about the roles of the officials and community leaders and provide opportunity for them to ask questions and gain a more comprehensive background about the present day issues concerning the area and region. The Chamber thanks the guest speakers for their time, and expresses gratitude to the Bakery Cafe for providing lunch for the participants. LAP is an Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce program formed to develop individuals of diverse backgrounds and strengths into a cohesive group of leaders committed to positively shape the future of Aransas Pass. The program systematically informs and challenges both experienced and developing leaders with a broader view of civic leadership responsibilities, opportunities and needs of the community, as well as the dynamics of social and economic change and encourage them to volunteer for community leadership positions.
