1 D E C E M B E R N E W S L E T T E R Fall Coffee The annual Fall Coffee was held on the morning of September 27th at the home of Nicole Vyrostek Perdue (Xi Kappa). Attendees enjoyed hearing national Chi Omega updates from Christy Passmore (Xi Zeta), Senior Director of Development for the Foundation. Rebecca Penberthy Clark (Iota), President of the Chi Omega Alumnae of Houston shared details of events planned for the year. Chi Omegas of all ages enjoyed socializing and catching up on all things Chi Omega. 2 Fall Social October 2018 Joni Fichter (Alpha Zeta), Marie Fischer (Xi) & Missy Pask (Sigma Alpha) Missy Pask (Sigma Alpha), National Ritual Officer, who resides in The Woodlands, was the guest speaker at the Fall Social. Tanya Field Mearse (Epsilon Delta) opened her home on the dreary evening of October 15th. Tanya s wonderful husband Bill served as escort with his giant umbrella. These are a few of the impressive statistics Missy shared with the group: 360,000 initiated members in 123 years 250,000 living alumnae 28,000 current collegiate members representing 181 chapters nationwide 246 alumnae chapters across the country registered with Chi Omega nationals In the summer of 2020 Chi Omega will celebrate its 125 anniversary at the Biennial Convention and is inviting all members to attend this celebration of Sisterhood. The group enjoyed an open floor question answer session with Missy on all things Chi Omega as well as the future of women s fraternal organization. A group gathered at King s Bierhaus in the Heights to celebrate Oktoberfest in early October. In late October they celebrated Halloween with a costume themed happy hour at Truck Yard in Downtown Houston. The annual Sisters-giving Pot Luck was held on November 14th at the home of Katelyn Mann. A bountiful assortment of traditional Thanksgiving food was enjoyed with talk and laughter filling the house. Visit our calendar at to see what the Night Owls have scheduled next. COK has given over $3.3 MILLION since its inception in $3 million has gone to support The Center, $213,000 to 118 collegiate Chi Omegas through the Chi Omega Houston Scholarship Fund $107,373 to The Chi Omega Foundation for Risk Management Workshops for collegiate members. 5 Season of Giving Houston Chi Omega alumnae and daughters volunteered at The Houston Food Bank on the morning of September 30th. During the three - hour shift the group along with other community volunteers packaged 5,940 boxes of food, equaling 4,900 meals for those in need this holiday season. Chi Omega alumnae members staffed the Gingersnaps Inc. booth at The Nutcracker Market on Sunday, November 11th. On Sunday the Gingersnaps Inc. booth sold $9,565 worth of Gingersnaps, Cheesesnaps, Chocolate Nugget Cookies and Fruitcakes, retailing for $20 and $35 respectively. Overall the Gingersnaps Inc booth raised $66,000 during the five days The Nutcracker Market was open. All proceeds from sales of Gingersnaps Inc. products benefit The Center.
