1 IMPORTANT GUIDANCE FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE ONLINE PRINT AND SEND FORM 1. Go to and click on My account in the top right corner 2. If you haven t already got an account, click on Register and follow the steps. Once you have registered and created an account, log into your account. 3. Click apply online on the left hand menu 4. Click on forms A-Z 5. Click on the letter T and select the following form: Tier 4 Student 'print and send' application -'Print and send' application for leave to remain (permission to stay) in the UK, and a biometric residence permit, as a Tier 4 Student or as a dependant of a Tier 4 Student 6. Scroll down and click Apply online and then follow the instructions 7. After each section, click check application and address any errors if shown. Once it says contains no errors, save and click next. If you don t save it and you get interrupted, your information might not be saved. 8. VERY IMPORTANT: After completing the form and ticking the declaration (after the checklist) DO NOT click next until you have double checked your application and are 100% confident that the information is correct and the application is ready to be submitted. Once you click next here, you cannot change your application anymore and if you find an error afterwards, you have to start all over again. DO NOT CLICK NEXT HERE UNTIL YOU HAVE DOUBLE CHECKED YOUR APPLICATION If you do, and you find you have to make any changes, you have to start all over again as you cannot change the answers anymore! 9. Instead do this: A) click on my account in the top right corner of the screen

2 B) click on the PDF file view my application C) Then thoroughly check your application and make sure there are no errors. Once you are confident, click on Resume and complete the application by paying the relevant fee with your credit card. D) Click the box to confirm that you have access to a printer and then print the PDF file, tick the boxes on the last page of the application and sign and date your application.

3 E) Post the application together with the relevant supporting documents (see your document checklist) to the address stated on the form. Guidance on completing the form Although UKBA offer guidance on some of the questions (click on the red apteryx for the UKBA guidance), it is important that you also read the following guidance, some of which is specific for applications sent through the University s visa extension scheme: Customise Is a representative acting for you in relation to this application? Tick no, the University is not acting as a representative for you. Personal details Given names: You must write down all given names (including your middle names) as stated on your passport Contact details Is this also your correspondence address? - You must tick yes here. The University cannot handle the correspondence with UKBA on your behalf. Reference Numbers Have you ever had any Home Office or UK Border Agency reference number assigned to you? If you made a previous UK visa application in the UK, tick yes Your Home Office or UKBA reference number: If you made a UK visa application in the UK, UKBA will have sent you a letter and it will state a case reference number. Other reference numbers might be reference numbers on your entry clearance sticker (VAF no) or your biometric card number. Immigration history What is your current immigration status in the UK? Most applicants have to tick I have leave to enter/remain for a limited period For a dependant baby who was born in the UK and who hasn t ever had a visa, select exempt from immigration control. Did you have a visa/entry clearance when you came to the UK? This question is about your visa you obtained BEFORE travelling to the UK. Almost everybody should tick yes here, if you are unsure, speak to the Adviser. Course details What is my sponsor s license number? This can be found on your CAS

4 What is my sponsor s address? Please complete as shown below What is the level of qualification you will be awarded when you successfully complete your course? This is stated on your CAS Date the course starts: If you are a continuing student and your start date is in the past, you must look at the course start date in the sponsor notes. Because we cannot put a date in the past in the course start date section, we have to put an artificial start date on your CAS in course start date. However, on the application form you must write your actual start date which is stated in the sponsor notes on your CAS. If you are a new student (new entrant) with a course start date in the future, then your course start date as stated on the CAS is the correct date. Is the address of your primary site of study the same as your Tier 4 sponsor's address? tick yes

5 How can you demonstrate your English language ability? What you have to tick depends on the information stated on your CAS = please see table below What the CAS states CAS states that SELT is required and lists the relevant English qualification you need to submit with your visa. CAS states that SELT is not required AND it states one of the following reasons: Migrant from majority speaking country Migrant holds degree from a majority speaking country Migrant to apply as a gifted student Higher Education Institution has made assessment What you have to tick I can provide an English language test certificate at B2 level from a registered provider. See below: I am a national of a listed majority English Speaking country I have a qualification, at least equivalent to a UK Bachelor's degree, taught in English My CAS confirms I speak English to B2 level or that I am a gifted student My CAS confirms I speak English to B2 level or that I am a gifted student Can you speak English to the required standard? - tick yes. If you didn t speak English to the required standard, we wouldn t have given you a CAS Maintenance How much are your course fees as stated on your Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS), in pounds sterling? This information is stated on your CAS. If you received a scholarship or tuition fee discount from the University and this scholarship is stated on your CAS in the sponsor notes, then you can state the deducted amount of your tuition fees as stated in the sponsor notes. How much have you paid? This information has to match the information on your CAS. You have to write the amount you have actually paid (the discounted amount, if you have received a discount). General attributes What is the level of the course you are applying for? This is stated on your CAS Documents It states on the form that all of these documents have to be submitted and if you don t submit these, the application will be rejected. This is confusing as some documents might not apply to you, e.g. you might not have to provide bank statements if you are fully sponsored. For bank statements there is a long list of possible options. Tick yes for the first option (personal bank statements) if you are sending an original bank statements which the bank sent to you by post. If you are sending an ad hoc statement which was stamped by the bank, tick the relevant option and tick no for all the other options of bank statements that do not apply to you. Declaration

6 UKBA work out automatically how much money you will have to show in your bank account for 28 days and this is the amount stated in the declaration. If you are fully sponsored and the amount you receive per month is more than 800 per month and covers the course fees, you can also tick yes, to confirm that you have the necessary amount available to you. VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: AFTER THE DECLARATION, DO NOT CLICK NEXT UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT YOUR APPLICATION IS FREE OF ERRORS. ONLY CLICK NEXT, ONCE YOU HAVE DOUBLE CHECKED THE APPLICATION, THEN YOU CAN SUBMIT AND PAY.
