Prepared personal statement saved on memory stick and checked by your Coach and the CUBE team Credit/debit card to pay online application fee of 24 for up to five choices or 18 for one 15 th October: Deadline for medicine, vet science & Oxford, Cambridge 15 th January 2019: Final UCAS deadline Go to the UCAS website Click on Sign in Click on Students 1 Choose 2019 entry
Click on the Register button, and then follow the prompts. You will be asked for your personal details. Once you have done this you will be given your username. Once you have registered, click on log in now. You must apply through your School/college- don t apply as an individual Click on Register You are applying Through my school/college 2
You must enter the college buzzword here which is havering19 (all lower case) Add your Coaching group here from the drop down list 3
Once you have added this, you will be ready to start your application. The Welcome page will appear. Make a note of your Personal ID number and keep it together with your username. Click on Verify your address and enter the code that has been ed to you. On the left-hand side you will see a menu list, you will now work your way through this list. Once each section is complete a tick will appear next to it. Start with Personal details, some of the fields will be automatically completed from when you registered. If you use your college address make sure you check it regularly for UCAS updates Put in the London borough you live in. 4
If you are a UK national, You will not have to fill in this section Select fee code 02 fee from drop down list This is the London borough you live in Say Yes to receiving texts and s as UCAS will update you with important information Nominate a parent or other adult who would be able to speak to UCAS on your behalf. 5
At the end of each section tick section completed and then save Additional Information Complete this section 6
Only complete if you have attended a summer school/saturday school or taster course NOT AN OPEN DAY! You do not have to provide an answer here Give the occupation of your father or mother from drop down list Choices Select the institution code from the drop down list Select the course code from the drop down list Select the campus code from the drop down list The start date will either be September or October 2017 Choose No for deferred entry unless you plan to take a gap year Click save and then repeat the same process again until you have made all your choices. Your screen will then show the choices you have made. 7
Click on add a choice and select University from the drop down list Your choices will appear alphabetically, not in order of preference. Check your choices and if you are happy with them tick section completed and then 8 save. Your course choice should all be similar. Don t apply for courses that are very different as this makes it difficult to write the personal statement. YOUR CHOICES MUST BE REALISTIC OTHERWISE YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE REJECTED.
See numbered points below Education Type in your school or the College name in the search field. Make sure you add your secondary school as well as Havering 6 th Form College For your secondary school make sure you list all the qualifications you received. You will then be ready to add the qualifications you are currently taking and have completed at Havering Sixth Form College. You will need to add your A level qualifications and leave the grade pending for July If you are taking BTEC qualifications make sure you choose the correct qualification. Enter the grade/units achieved so far and leave the overall grade as pending
1. Use the drop down menu to select the subject 2. Use the drop down to select the month and year you are taking/have taken the exam 3. Use the drop down to select the awarding body for the exam 4. Select pending if you have not yet taken/or do not know your result 5. If you wish, you can put the modules (and results) you have taken/will be taking Click on save and add similar until you have added one set of exams - once completed click on save. Repeat the above process until you have added all your exam results. Once complete add new school/college/centre and repeat above to add your secondary school and GCSE results. Check this section carefully. It is one that lots of applicants get wrong and could affect your chance of a place at your chosen university! When you are happy it is correct click on section completed and then save 10
Employment Only complete this section if you have had paid employment. Do not include unpaid work experience or voluntary work here. Once completed click on section completed and save Personal Statement The Personal Statement along with your predicted grades is the most important section of your application. Admissions Tutors will use the Personal Statement to choose applicants. The personal statement is limited to 4000 characters or 47 lines in size 12 font. It is recommended that you copy and paste your personal statement from a Word document into the UCAS application. Check for spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. Some Admissions Tutors will reject your application if they find more than three mistakes! 11 Once you are happy with your personal statement and have had it checked by your Coach and the CUBE team, copy it into the application form, click on preview, save and mark as complete.
Your personal statement must be your own work; UCAS have a detection service which will pick up anything that has been copied. Copied sections are highlighted and sent on to the chosen universities. Most universities will automatically reject statements that have been copied. STOP! Before you Pay/Send click on View all details. If there are any sections which are incomplete there will be prompts reminding you that additional information is required. Go through your application with your Coach Take your application to the CUBE team and ask them to check through it for you. Once you have had your application checked you can click on Pay/Send and enter your payment details. 12
Process Student goes to the CUBE to have their application checked for errors When application has been approved by the CUBE click Pay/Send Remember! The earlier you apply, the more chance you have of receiving all 5 offers. Recommended deadline is October half term. UCAS final deadline is 15 th January 2019 Your Coach will now do your Reference. It can take two weeks for your application to be processed so please make sure you give yourself plenty of time before the deadline. Your application will be sent to UCAS If after you have paid and sent, you realise that you need to change something, don t panic! Go to the CUBE and they will send your application back to you provided it has not already been sent to UCAS. You won t need to pay again! UCAS will text or you to say they have received your application You will receive decisions from your University choices-check UCAS Track You need to reply to your offers by from March 2019 onwards.
