DAA UCAS UCAS is a central application clearinghouse for all UK universities. UCAS allows you to apply to five UK universities at one time. The same application will go to all five universities so your personal statement should be general. Your reference letter will be added to your application by the counseling office, along with your predicted IB scores. The fee for applying to one university is 12, and the fee for applying to multiple universities is 23. We generally recommend students apply to five as there is nothing to lose in applying to all five. GETTING REGISTERED 1. Go to and Click on the left hand tab Apply 2. In the next screen choose the students box and the tab entitled Log in/register for APPLY Next you ll need to register as an applicant and you will be asked for a log in user name and password, where you are applying from, your home address etc. You will also be asked if you are applying as an individual or with a school/organization. You will then be asked for a buzzword DAA s buzzword is DAA2015. Once registered you can click through to start the application.
This is the screen you will see once you are registered. Make note of your UCAS ID number. You should also complete the verification. PERSONAL DETAILS 1. Enter all of your personal details and make sure your address is correct 2. In the residency category- you should select OTHER Unless you are a EU national in which case you can you choose UK Or EU National. 3. In the middle of the page you ll be asked date of first entry to UK At this point you should add the date that you intent to start your course in the UK. 4. If you have more than one passport, enter the passport information for the passport you intend to enter the UK with. 5. If you ve done the Toefl exam, there is a space for you to enter your ID number. 6. Under student support the Fee code that you enter should be personal finance 7. Under Nominated Access, you can select your parents or your counselor. CHOICES EDUCATION 1. You will be allowed to select five courses of study at whichever universities you choose. You can click the see list button to get a full listing of the universities and the courses. 2. On the bottom of the course selection page you can select the point of entry. If you leave it blank, they ll assume you re entering to year 1. If you put a zero in this box, you ll be considered for the university s foundation year*** of course you ll need to make sure there is indeed a foundation year offered at that institution. 3. When you have selected all your courses, double check to make sure they are correct. 1. In the first drop down window you will indicate that you have achieved qualifications below honors degree level, this basically means you are a high school student.
2. Next, you will select add new school/organization and using the search tool to find DAA and any other high schools you have attended. Our center code is Next, Click add qualifications. And choose USA High School Diploma. For the module under USA High School Diploma you can indicate multiple subjects in the subject line and the qualification date as June You can also Add you SAT Scores if you like in this section. 4. Next, click on add qualifications one more time, and choose either International Baccalaureate Diploma or International Baccalaureate Certificates This will depend on whether not you are a full IB Diploma student or not. 5. Add all the courses (modules as they call them) that you are taking in the IB including whether the Level (Hlv or Slv). Use the drop down window to indicate that your grade is pending and the qualification date should be May EMPLOYMENT 1. It is likely that many of you have never had paid employment. This is totally fine. You are all full time students at the moment! If by chance you have had a part time job for which you were paid you can add information here. Things like babysitting can be left out, but a paid internship could be included. STATEMENT 1. The UCAS application allows you to enter one 4000 character personal statement. This essay should be directed towards the area or course that you wish to study. Here are some guidelines from the UCAS website: Two of the most important things to include are: * why you're applying for the course you've chosen: this is particularly important when you're applying for a subject that you have not studied before. Tell the university the reasons why that subject interests you, and include
evidence that you understand what's required to study the course, eg if applying for psychology courses, show that you know how scientific the subject is. * why you're suitable for the course: tell the universities the skills, courses, and experience you have that will help you to succeed on the course. Also think about: * how your current or previous studies relate to the course(s) that you have chosen * any activities that demonstrate your interest in the course(s)- think internship or clubs. * why you want to go to university or college Talk to your counselor about your Personal Statement. VIEW ALL DETAILS 1. This is your chance to look over all your answers to ensure everything is correct. Look it over and be sure you ve selected the correct courses and that you contact information is correct. 2. Go through each section and tick the box at the bottom indicating Section completed. At this point a little red check mark should appear on the left hand side indicating that you are done. PAY AND SEND 1. This should be your final step. You will need to ask for your parent s credit card (nicely) to pay for the application fee. When you send your application, you ll actually be sending it electronically to the counseling office. Shoot us a quick to let us know. We will check it over and insert the teacher letter of recommendation along with your predicted IB grades. Once complete and accurate, we ll send it to UCAS and the universities. Congratulations! You have applied to universities in the UK!
You will next be instructed via to log into UCAS TRACK. This allows you to view the results of your applications and later you ll be able to choose your Firm and Insurance choices. Work with your counselor to understand what this means and how to proceed in the spring. You may receive unconditional offers, meaning you can enroll at the university next fall with your current qualifications. Or you may be given a conditional offer, meaning you must meet the university s condition (a certain number of IB points usually) to enroll next fall. Talk to you counselor about all your offers once they are on the UCAS site. Good Luck! And remember its not where you go it s what you do when you get there!
