1 Kaiser Permanente Checklist 1. Set up account with Kaiser Permanente google the jobs.kp.org 2. Click on Search for jobs sign inà this will allow you to create your FREE Kaiser account 3. Read the statement and acknowledge by clicking on I AGREE this lets you into the website 4. Here you will create an Online Profile using your paper resume and detailed information. Click on New User- Create a Profile 5. CREATE YOUR USER NAME/PASSWORD/GIVE YOUR AND THEN GRAB A PIECE OF PAPER AND A PEN & WRITE IT ALL DOWN. TUCK IT IN A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN COME BACK TO IT IF YOU FORGET BECAUSE IT S A TIRESOME PROCESS TRYING TO GET IT RESTORED. Trust me a lot of people think that they will remember and then up forgetting the whole dang thing then you have to contact support and its no fun!! 6. You will need an to create the profile. You can choose any provider with a FREE account to set this up. Yahoo, Google, AOL, as well as many other providers offer a free account service. You will need this in order to receive most of your correspondence as well. 7. In the field title location enter your desired city and state and click search or enter ex: Fontana (it should auto- populate the details) 8. After you have found the job do not submit yet. Click on Account Options at the top to set your information. If you don t, your information may not be saved. After you have done this you can submit to all jobs you see fit online.

In account options- - Enter your name, contact information, and address information (you may have to enter your social security number, information on the Kaiser website is kept private, however some people aren t comfortable with this, and unfortunately you cannot apply without this information) 10. Here is where you will also enter in your work history. Place your current history at the top of the list. If you do not have dates, I would recommend calling each past employer and getting precise dates to place the most accurate and detailed account of your work history. **Doing this in the beginning will certify that all of your information is correct and you wont have to guess when it comes down to completing your actual application IF you are selected for a job 11. Don t worry about pay details if you don t have a round about date or not comfortable at the moment placing income history put a 0 in this field. Remember these fields are really sensitive and you WILL NOT be able to move on without entering this information 12. If you have any internship information to put down make sure you write the company name and then place a COLON and write INTERNSHIP also place a 0 for income earned for these fields as well 13. To add each one of your employers you will need at least 10 years worth of Employment history. If you have ANY gaps in employment dates you should indicate why you were out of work. You can always put these fields as Unemployed, Going to School, Looking for Work and so on Never put down any employers in which you were paid under the table/cash/or received checks. Unfortunately, employers CANNOT verify these employers and you will be disqualified for the job.

3 If you have not received a paycheck stub or a W- 2 then you shouldn t write it down! 14. For the education section of this field place all of your verified schooling, certifications, or education history ONLY. I understand we are proud of going to school but Kaiser ONLY needs verified degrees, diplomas, & certificates. Its awesome that you re going back to school but any degree that is NOT in your hand currently does not need to be placed on the profile. In the notes section at the bottom of the page is where you can list that you are currently enrolled in an institution. 15. Preferences list you can add any alerts you would like to receive regarding jobs in your area. This will trigger s to you everyday so if you DO NOT want to be bothered do not set this up, as it will kick out s to you everyday on the hour about job listings. 16. When you are done creating the profile you need to upload a copy of your resume. To do this you need to be able to scan it, to enter it. Kaiser does not scan resumes for you, so this is something you have to do on your own. You can always download a scanner if you have a smart phone. You can use apps like cam scanner, I Scanner, or any other viable scanner that will show a neat copy of your resume. OR you can always reach out to someone you know that has a desktop scanner so that you can have the CLEANEST ONLINE VERSION of your scanned resume. You can always save it to a disc and upload it on a computer, there is always an option. 17. Know that each Kaiser has the same way of conducting their business. You can always inquire or have minor questions answered about the Recruitment process however you have to be hand selected to get an interview 18. Make sure you have the right amount of contact information in your profile so you are ready for a call. People sabotage themselves by not having a valid number on file.

4 People change their contact info all the time and forget to update their profile. Don t be like those people, you will miss out on some good opportunities. 19. Look at the jobs, read the qualifications, and make sure you are interested in the job. Never apply if its not something you are sold on. Read the full qualifications top to bottom and make sure you qualify. You can t read a portion of the details and assume you qualify. Sometimes you need a certain certificate or amount of experience, so don t act like those other candidates where they qualify for the job by reading one line of the paragraph. Read the Required Job Qualifications, Preferred and Additional notes labeled on that job posting. I know this seems like a lot but reading from top to bottom will ensure that you qualify, you re interested and you know everything you need to know about that job! Trust me this irritates Recruiters a lot!!!! 20. If you have a certain certification that matches the qualification indicate it on your profile, this does not need to be scanned until its time to do the official Kaiser application. The Kaiser application is by invitation ONLY and you cannot receive one unless you re invited by a Coordinator or Recruiter. If you need a certain certification like a food handlers card, you can simply get those online. It takes a day online, is a small fee, and is printable. You can take that to HR and they will scan those Food Handler cards for you. For a food handlers card for the Fontana Hospitalà you will need one from the county of san Bernardino if you are applying to the Inland Empire, and so on. 21. When writing down the summary of your qualifications, make sure that you are listing some of your top responsibilities of the job. It may not let you write down all of your top duties, but at least you can display some of your responsibilities. Try to narrow it down and list the most important aspects of your job. Remember you can always elaborate on your actual Resume. 22. At this point, references are NOT needed because this is NOT an application, this is the generic profile information you are entering to be able to apply on the website. However, start thinking of 2-4 people that are able to give you a great reference. Have their contact information and e- mail available as a stand- by. This is to prepare you for a potential application, should you receive an invite. 23. If you happen to receive a call be sure that you re ready to take it! Remember if you re driving, preoccupied or not ready to take the call, chances are you will be distracted &

5 you may not interpret the information well. You never want to appear unprepared, so if you have to let it go to voice mail, do it so that you give that person your undivided attention. 24. If you are applying for a position that requires a typing test call your local HR and ask if there are certain hours you can test. Remember that each Kaiser HR facility will have different times or schedules that testing is given, so you never want to assume you can just walk in. Some of these Kaiser locations have to schedule their testing, because they have a smaller office, so make sure you call. 25. Before calling, please note that EVERY test is not offered. Only the following tests are offered as a walk in basis: Typing, Medical Terminology, Call Center Test, MS Word, Excel, & Power point. ***The Bilingual Test is NOT offered, as this test is a paid exam by Kaiser and is ONLY offered if you re being considered for a Bilingual position. Typing test 6 per year, only 2 x retest a day (scored on accuracy/speed) you will get a warm up test and 3-4 actual different typing paragraphs. There is no way to prepare for this exam BUT you can go to FREETYPINGTESTS.COM and practice at home before taking the BIG plunge. Medical Terminology have to wait 90 days for a re- test (there is no warm up for this test you have to know your basic medical terms) Call Center test varies per individual score you may call HR and ask the breakdown of a re- test and when a re- test is offered (there is no way to prep for this test it is a basic assessment of how you would handle different customers in a call center environment) MS Word/Excel/Power point 65-70% (reach out to HR for specific percentage breakdown on a pass or fail score) 26. When you are speaking to the HR assistant or HR representative at the front desk, make sure you are in the right state of mind to test and receive information. DO NOT come in with kids, as kids should NOT be left unattended when you re testing. Its difficult to test when little ones are in the waiting area, and may distract you from doing your best! I love the kiddies, but they should be left at home when conducting business at the Recruitment office.

6 27. When you re going to take a test, remember that you should come business casual. You DO NOT have to have on a suit, but looking presentable is key. You can ask questions about the recruitment process, but remember you cannot leave your information OR ask for an application. You have to be individually Recruited by the team to get an Interview, but don t get discouraged, hang in there J 28. The time frame to be Recruited can take awhile. I can t sugar coat the time frame as some people have waited 6 months to a year to get a call. With consistently applying and showing interest you can get a call back. If you feel like you re not receiving a hit after a month or two down the line, call in and inquire about the job, let them know you re interested and that you applied some time ago. It s okay to pick their brain a bit, but its never okay to try and intimidate the caller, be pushy and demand information. This will definitely get you placed on the crap list and TRUST ME they will never forget an UGLY call! They will write your name down and REMEMBER it! Once you ve pissed them off, good luck, you have been WARNED!!! 29. The recruitment process takes some time, hundreds of applicants are applying, however you have an advantage! It can take anywhere from 2-3 months to fill a position. However, as soon as the posting becomes available apply to it, you can lock in your submission to make sure your name is on that job! This is why I recommend setting up a preferences list, so that you get alerts throughout the day. The faster you can apply, the better, a lot of jobs are posted temporarily and can be taken down at any moment. Some job postings don t even last a full day after their posted online so its critical that you apply as soon as possible. You can always cancel a submission and add jobs to your job cart and save submissions. 30. My Job page is a feature that certifies that a job has been successfully applied to. Once you finish a submission check and make sure you have applied and your submission has been marked under this page. My Job Page will show you all of your Submitted and Drafted job postings. If its under the submitted category you will then have peace of mind that you have correctly applied J 31. There is no limit to the amount of jobs you can apply for in a day. I would recommend taking out some time in your day maybe about 35 minutes to apply after you have the profile completed, and make sure you keep your information updated.

7 If you have changed your number/address/e- mail, make sure you immediately log online and updated. No one can update it for you and the system doesn t automatically update anything unless you log in and change the details. 32. People always ask me how long it takes to get into Kaiser and honestly it depends on the demand of each job, and if you are considered a top qualified candidate. Some people have gotten in within a month, others have taken from 6 months to a year depending on what positions were available at that time! You also have to keep a positive and open mind about it. You only get what you put out, so you cannot submit one time and think that, that will be enough to get a job! Be realistic, set some ideal goals for yourself, and keep going!!!! You did not come all this way to give up, so persistence is key!
