2 Question To begin your application Applicant Information Answer After you have registered, please click Apply for Myself then Continue after reading the information. You will then need to answer questions about yourself. Given Name(s)/Forename(s) Please write this exactly as it is written in your passport. Family Name/Surname Please write this exactly as it is written in your passport. Primary Contact Number Please enter your main number to contact you on. Passport Number Please enter this exactly as it is written in the top right hand corner of your photograph page. Date of Birth Use the pop-out calendar to choose your date of birth. Date of Intended Travel Use the pop-out calendar to choose when you are looking to travel to the UK. If you do not know, be as accurate as possible. Location You must choose the country you are applying from. This will bring up further options. Visa issuing office You must then choose the visa issuing office in your country that you will be using for your application. For example, if you choose China in Location, it will show the 7 Visa Issuing Offices in China. Country of Nationality You must choose the country you are from. Select Visa Type These questions are mandatory and unless they are filled in, the next section will not appear. After filling in the information above, you will be able to choose the correct application for your case. Reason for Visit You should choose Study. Visa Type You should choose PBS Tier 4 Student. Visa Sub Type You should choose Tier 4 (General) Student. This will bring up a page containing all of your current applications in process. To begin, find your new application and click Go to Application. Family Name/Surname Given Name(s)/Forename(s) Date Of Birth Place Of Birth Gender Nationality Do you currently hold, or have you ever held, any other nationality/nationalities? Type your family name/surname here, exactly as it is written in your passport. Type all names here which are in your passport, other than your surname/family name (so include all middle names). Select the date of your birth using the pop out calendar. Your date of birth should be listed as day-month-year. Type your place of birth exactly how it is written in your passport. This may be a province instead of a village, town or city. Select Male or Female from the drop down list. Select the nationality of the passport you are using from the drop down list. If you have only one nationality, select No to this question. If you hold more than one nationality, select Yes to this question. You International Support Team - version 1 August

3 will then be asked to Please Enter Details. Click Add and select the other nationality you hold from the drop down list. If you have more than one other nationality, click Add again and select the nationality. Current Passport or Travel Document Number Place of Issue Issuing Authority Date Of Issue Date of Expiry Country of Residence Are you a national of the country in which you are applying? Is this your first passport? Number of the passport or travel document that you will use to travel to the UK. Type the place your passport was issued, exactly as it is written in your passport. Issuing Authority as stated in the passport or travel document. There is limited space to enter information here, so fill what you can. For example, MPS Exit & Entry Administration is too many letters, so you can only fill MPS Exit and Entry A. Date of Issue as stated in the passport or travel document Date of Expiry as stated in the passport or travel document. The country of which you are permanently living (your home country). Are you a citizen of the country you are applying from? Click Yes if so. If not, you will be asked to Enter Details explaining why you are not applying from your home country. Click Yes if it is your first passport. If it is not your first passport, you will be asked to Enter Details. You should click Add and fill in the details of your previous passport. If it is in your possession, choose this answer for the final question. If it has been returned to the passport issuer, please put this information. Please note if you say you are in possession of a previous passport you may be asked to provide this as part of your documentation. International Support Team - version 1 August

4 Travel Information Question Are you travelling with anyone? Date of planned arrival in the UK How long do you intend to stay in the UK? What is the main address and contact details of where you will be staying whilst in the UK? Answer If you are travelling to the UK alone, click No. If you are travelling with someone else, you must click Add and update their details. You will need to input their Nationality, Family Name/Surname, Given Name(s)/Forename(s), Date of Birth and whether they have a valid visa for the UK. Use the pop out calendar to input the date you will be arriving. Please input the amount of time you are looking to stay in the UK. In this case, it would be better to put how long your course is at the University. To easily fill in the boxes, you can input the postcode for where you will be living in the UK. Then choose your address from the drop down box provided. If you still do not know where you will be living in the UK, you may input the address of the Foundation Building here at the University. The postcode is L69 7ZX. The address should look like this: University of Liverpool The Foundation Building Brownlow Hill Liverpool United Kingdom L69 7ZX You will also need to input a contact and phone number so you can be contacted. When you have completed this section, click next at the bottom of the page. International Support Team - version 1 August

5 Personal Details and Travel History Question What is your permanent residential address and contact details? How long have you lived at this address? Answer Here you must input your full address for your address in your home country. As a minimum you must fill in Line 1, Postal Code, Country, Primary contact no., and . Both and Primary contact no. should match the information given on the previous page. Input the amount of time you have lived at your current address. Make sure this is in the format, - Years Months. For example, 5 Years 3 Months. Are your preferred contact details different from the ones provided above? Travel History Have you been issued any visa for the UK, UK Overseas Territories or Commonwealth Country in the last 10 years? Have you ever travelled to the UK in the last 10 years? If you do not know the amount of time exactly, please be as specific as possible. Is the , address and phone number provided the best way to contact you? If so, click No. If not, click Yes and you will be asked to input your preferred contact method in the same format as above. If you have never held a visa for the UK, click No. If you have had a visa for the UK previously, click Yes and then Add. You will be asked to input Type of Visa Issued, Date of Issue, Date of Expiry and the Issuing Authority (ie. British Embassy). If you have travelled to the UK in the last 10 years, you must provide details. Click Yes and then Add. You should add the 5 most recent trips you have made to the UK if you have travelled here more than once. You will need to add Date of Arrival, Departure date and Purpose of the trip. Have you made an application to the Home Office to remain in the UK in the last 10 years? If you have never visited the UK previously, click No. Have you applied to extend your visa whilst inside the UK? If you have, click Yes and then click Add. You will then need to add the Date of Application, Type of Application (ie. Type of visa) and a Home Office Reference Number, which you receive when you extend your visa inside the UK. If you do not know or cannot remember your Home Office Reference number, please type Unknown. Have you ever been refused entry to the UK in the last 10 years (for example at a UK airport or seaport)? If you have never extended your visa whilst inside the UK, just click No. Have you, upon entering the UK by plane, been refused entry into the UK for any reason and either been put back on a flight home, or granted temporary leave of one or two days with the conditions of returning to the airport to be put on a flight home? If so, click Yes and then Add to provide details. You will then need to fill International Support Team - version 1 August

6 in the details required. Date of Refusal Use the pop-out calendar next to the text box. Port or Airport Please enter the airport where you were denied entry Reason for Refusal Please give the reason why you were denied entry. Reference Number If you were given one, please add the reference number for this refusal. Have you been refused a visa for any country including the UK in the last 10 years? Have you been deported, removed or otherwise required to leave any country including the UK in the last 10 years? If you do not know or cannot remember your Reference number, please type Unknown. Have you, in the last 10 years, had an application for a visa rejected for any country including the UK? If so, please click Yes, and then Add Details. This will bring up further questions for you to answer. Country of Visa Application For which country did you apply for a visa? Type Of Visa Refused What type of visa did you apply for? (ie. Tier 4, visitor visa) Date of Refusal Use the pop-out calendar to choose the date the application was refused. Reason for Refusal Why was your visa refused? Please give a clear, detailed answer. Have you ever been collected and/or forced to leave the country by any authorities in the UK or in any other country? Have you ever been subject to a deportation/removal order by any authorities in the UK or in any other country? If so, click Yes and then Add to provide details. You will then need to fill in the details required. Country Please write the name of the country from which you were removed. Date of Deportation/Removal Use the pop-out calendar provided next to the text box. Port or Airport From which airport did you leave the country? Reason for Deportation/Removal Why were you deported/removed from this country? If not, please click No and continue to the next question. Have you ever voluntarily elected to depart the UK? Please note that this does NOT include if your visa has been cancelled (curtailed) in the UK due to suspension/withdrawal from your course, providing that you left the country before the visa expired. Have you been required to leave the UK by the Home Office but have left voluntarily (ie. Paid for your own flights and left the country)? If so, then click Yes and then Add to provide further details. Date of Departure Please use the pop-out calendar provided next to the text box. 7 Immigration decision and the papers you were served What reason was given to remove you from the UK? What documents did you receive? Reference Number These documents should contain a reference number. If you do not know or cannot remember your Reference number, please type Unknown. If not, please click No and continue to the next question. Are you, or have you been subject to, an exclusion order from the UK? Have you ever travelled outside your country of residence, excluding the UK, in the last 10 years? Do you have a UK National Insurance Number? Please note that this does NOT include if your visa has been cancelled in the UK due to suspension/withdrawal from your course, providing that you left the country before the visa expired. Have you ever been issued with an official order from the Home Office or UK Government which bans you from entering the UK for an extended period of time? If so, click Yes and then Add to provide further details. If not, click No and continue to the next question. Have you visited any other country excluding the UK in the last 10 years? If so, click Yes and then Add. You will need to include Date of Travel, Country Visited and your Reason for the trip (ie. Tourism, visiting family etc.) If not, click No and continue to the next question. Have you previously worked in the UK? If so, you will have needed a UK National Insurance number to calculate tax you had to pay. Do you have any criminal convictions in any country (including spent/unspent convictions and traffic offences)? If so, click Yes and enter the number under What is the National Insurance number e.g. AA123456Z? This contains a follow-up question of What is the reason for getting it? You must then input why you have this number (ie. Work whilst in the UK) If not, click No and continue to the next question. Have you been accused of committing a crime in any country including the UK? If so, click Yes and give as much detail as possible. If not, click No and continue to the next question. Have you been convicted of a crime but you have not been tried in a court of law? If so, click Yes and fill in as much detail as possible in the box. Have you ever been charged in any country with a criminal offence for which you have not yet been tried in court (including traffic offences)? If not, click No and continue to the next question. Please enter the information as written on your father s passport. Please enter the information as written on your father s passport. Please choose your father s date of birth from the pop-out calendar provided. Input this information exactly as it is written on your father s passport. Choose from the drop down menu provided. Please enter the information as written on your mother s passport. Please enter the information as written on your mother s passport. Please choose your mother s date of birth from the pop-out calendar provided. Input this information exactly as it is written on your mother s passport. Do you have any children? If not, click No and continue to the next question. If Yes, you will be asked to answer further questions. Click Yes then Add and answer the following questions. 10 Non-Dependent Children Are any other children travelling with you? Address Input their permanent address, even if it is the same as your own. Contact Number Input a contact number, even if it is the same as your contact details. Are there any other children (not your son/daughter) travelling with you? If no, click Next and continue onto the next section. If yes, you will be required to answer the following questions. Passport or Travel Document Number, if known If the child has one of these, please enter the number. Nationality Please choose one from the drop-down menu. Family Name/ Surname Enter this information exactly as written on their travel document (if they have one). Given Name(s)/ Forename(s) Enter this information exactly as written on their travel document (if they have one). Date of Birth Choose this from the pop-out calendar. Place of Birth Input this exactly as it is written on their travel document. Who does this child live with? Does the child live with you, with their birth parents or someone else? What is your relationship to the child? How do you know this child? Are you a blood relative, or a legal guardian? What is your relationship to the child s parent(s)? 11 Medical Treatment Question Have you ever received medical treatment in the UK? Answer If you have been to the UK before and have had to visit a hospital to receive treatment, please click Yes. You will then need to answer the following questions. Did you have to pay for the treatment? Yes or No. Where did you receive the treatment? Input the UK postcode for where you received your treatment to easily fill the address details below. If you are unsure, fill in as much as you can. Primary Contact no. This will be the contact number of the hospital you received the treatment. Treatment start date Use the pop-out calendar to choose the date your treatment started. Treatment end date Use the pop-out calendar to choose the date your treatment ended. When you have completed this section, click next at the bottom of the page. 12 Tier 4 Student Question Sponsor Give your Tier 4 Sponsor s licence number What is the name of your sponsor? What is the full address of your sponsor? Studies What is your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies Number? What is the title of your course? What is the level of the course and qualification? Answer This can be found on your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) statement. If your CAS has been issued by the University of Liverpool then you should type 'N5WWG40J6' or copy and paste this from your online CAS statement. Your sponsor will be University of Liverpool. Please note that this does not mean a Financial Sponsor. University of Liverpool The Foundation Building Brownlow Hill Liverpool United Kingdom L69 7ZX This can be found on your CAS statement. Please make sure you copy and paste this from your online CAS to avoid mistakes. Please input your course title exactly as it is written on your CAS statement. For example, BSc Mathematics with Finance If you are studying at undergraduate degree level you should type NQF Level 6. If you are studying at postgraduate degree level you should type NQF level 7. Start Date of course End Date of course Have you already started studying this course? What is the address of the main site of study? Confirm which of the following options apply If you are studying a PhD you should type NQF level 8. Select the course start date as it appears on your CAS. Select the date using the pop-out calendar next to the box. Select the course end date as it appears on your CAS. Select the date using the pop-out calendar next to the box. Have you already begun studying on this course, and are applying for a new visa in order to continue your studies? If so, please click Yes. If not, please click No. University of Liverpool Liverpool United Kingdom L69 7ZX Please see the three options to choose from. For this application, you should choose Studying When you choose this option, you will be required to respond to a further question. Have you been assessed by the sponsor by other means, for example references or a portfolio of artwork? 13 If so, click Yes. If not, click No. Please indicate how you meet the minimum English language requirement relevant to your course If yes, you will have to answer a further question. Please provide details on how you have been assessed. Your CAS should state how you can demonstrate your English Language ability. You must select one of the following options which best explains how your English Language ability was assessed by the University: If you are a continuing student and your CAS was issued by Student Administration then you should select Your sponsor is a Higher Education Institution (HEI), and has made its own assessment of your English language ability. You will then be asked Are you required to obtain permission from the Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS)? To find out whether you require ATAS for your new course, please see our website: or atas@liv.ac.uk. If you are a new student and your CAS was issued by our International Admissions Team then you should check your CAS statement before deciding which option to select. If you are required to submit your English Language Test Certificate (ie. IELTS) then please select English Language Test. You will then be asked to give further details such as: Awarding Body Title of Qualification Level of Qualification Date of Award Award Reference Number This information should be found on your English Language Certificate. You should provide the original certificate when submitting your application. If your CAS states that you need to submit an academic qualification equivalent to a UK degree from a majority English speaking country (such as a previous undergraduate degree from the University of Liverpool) then please choose Academic qualification equivalent to UK degree, taught in majority English speaking country. You will then be asked to Give your academic qualification and the country it was issued in. Have any of your course fees been paid? You will be asked to select your Nationality from the drop-down box. The amount of course fees for the first 12 months of the course will be stated on your CAS statement. Please type it in exactly as it appears on your CAS. If you have paid any, you should choose Yes- Paid to UK Education Provider. If not, please choose No. If you choose Yes, you will be asked two follow-up questions. Please Enter the Amount in GBP( ) The amount of course fees will be stated on your CAS statement. Please type it in exactly as it appears on your CAS. What document has been provided as evidence of payment? If your CAS statement shows you have paid some of your course fees, you should choose Shown in the CAS. Do you have an established presence in the UK? If you have paid any of your fees after your CAS has been issued, then you must contact the University to confirm the CAS has been updated before applying. If you have a valid Tier 4 Student visa when you apply for your visa extension, as well as "applying for a continued study on a single course where you have completed at least six months of that course" then you are classed as having an established presence in the UK. This will not be affected by the fact you are applying from outside of the UK. Depending on whether you have an established presence in the UK or not will determine the amount of maintenance that you will need to show in your bank account. If you do not have an established presence you will need to show 820 for 9 months ( 7,380) plus one year s tuition fees (if you have not yet paid any). If you do have an established presence you will need to show 820 for two months ( 1,640) plus one year s tuition fees (if you have not yet paid any). 15 For this initial application what is your primary site of study? Note: if you have selected Yes for the previous question, this question will be listed as For this extension application what is your primary site of study? How much funding GBP ( ) per month do you have to cover your maintenance charges? Please choose from the two options provided. Inside the London Boroughs Outside the London Boroughs Depending on which option you choose, you will need to show a different amount of maintenance in your bank account as part of your application. If you are studying at the University of Liverpool you should choose Outside the London Boroughs. As mentioned previously, the amount of maintenance you will need will depend on whether you have an established presence in the UK. If you do not have an established presence you will need to show 820 for 9 months ( 7,380) plus one year s tuition fees (if you have not yet paid any). If you do have an established presence you will need to show 820 for two months ( 1,640) plus one year s tuition fees (if you have not yet paid any). If you are unsure, see the flowchart on our website which will help you determine the amount you need to show: _July_14.pdf You must enter a minimum of 820 in this box. If you have more maintenance funds than the minimum expected ( 1,640 or 7,380) then please divide the total amount you have by the amount of months you need to show. Have any of your accommodation fees been paid to your sponsor? For example, if you do not have an established presence you would need to show 9 months of maintenance at 820, making a total of 7,380. If you hold 10,000 in your account for maintenance funds, you should divide this by 9 and input the amount in this box. In this scenario you would say 1,111. If you have paid accommodation fees to the University, you should choose Yes- Paid to UK Education Provider. You will then be asked two follow-up questions. Please enter the amount GBP( ) Your CAS statement should say how much money you have paid for accommodation fees. Please type it in exactly as appears on your CAS. If it is not shown on your CAS statement, then please enter the amount as it is written on the official receipt you received that confirmed the payment you have paid. What document has been provided as evidence of payment? Depending on where your payment is referenced, you should choose one of the three options. If it is stated on your CAS statement, please choose Shown in the CAS. If it is not stated on your CAS, but is on an official receipt from the University, please choose An Official or Original Receipt. If you have already paid money to the University of Liverpool for your International Support Team - version 1 August

16 accommodation, you are permitted to deduct a maximum of 1,020 from the amount of maintenance that you will need to show as part of your application. If you pay less than 1,020, then you should deduct that amount of money from your maintenance, not the full 1,020. Do you receive support from a financial sponsor that meets the UK Visa and Immigration definition of a financial sponsor? The Home Office definition of an Official Financial Sponsor can be seen below. You can receive official financial sponsor from Her Majesty s Government, your home government, the British Council or any international organisation, international company, university or an Independent School In this case, international refers to having offices/institutions outside the country they are primarily based in. For example, a university with campuses outside of the country as well as inside. If you receive Official Financial Sponsorship from one of the above, please select Yes. You will be asked for further details such as: What is the name of the official financial sponsor? Please write the name of your sponsor. How much in GBP( ) is the official financial sponsor or Government sponsor paying towards your expenses? Please enter the total amount for the first year of your course as it appears on your Official Sponsorship Letter. Course Fees Please enter how much your Sponsor is paying towards your course fees for the first year of your course. Maintenance Fees Please enter how much your Sponsor is paying towards your living costs for the first year of your course. Do you have any remaining fees and maintenance still due for payment? If you are financially sponsored and your Sponsor is covering all of your tuition fees and living costs, then select No. If you are financially sponsored and your Sponsor is covering only part of your tuition fees/living costs, then select Yes. If you or your parents are paying for your tuition fees/living costs, then select Yes. If you choose Yes, you will be asked for further details. Please see the following questions for how to answer them. Course fees If you choose No, the following three questions will not appear. Please input the tuition fees you have to pay for this academic year as it is stated on your CAS statement. If you have paid some of your tuition fees, please deduct this from the overall total. This will be used in combination with your Maintenance (see below) to determine how much money you will need to show on your bank statements to demonstrate you have the funds to support yourself while studying in the UK. 17 Maintenance The amount of maintenance you will need to input here will depend on your answers to previous questions. As mentioned previously, the amount of maintenance you will need will depend on whether you have an established presence in the UK. If you do not have an established presence you will need to show 820 for 9 months ( 7,380) plus one year s tuition fees (if you have not yet paid any). If you do have an established presence you will need to show 820 for two months ( 1,640) plus one year s tuition fees (if you have not yet paid any). If you are unsure, see the flowchart on our website which will help you determine the amount you need to show: _July_14.pdf If you have already paid money to the University of Liverpool for your accommodation, you are permitted to deduct a maximum of 1,020 from the amount of maintenance that you will need to show as part of your application. If you pay less than 1,020, then you should deduct that amount of money from your maintenance, not the full 1,020. Total Please add together the amount in Course Fees and Maintenance and input this in the box. This will be the amount of money that you will need to show as a minimum in your bank account. You will need to submit bank statements which reflect that this amount of money has been in your bank account for at least the last 28 days. Do you have money in your own name? Are you using your own bank account to show you have the correct amount of funds necessary for your application? If so, click Yes and answer the following question: What original document has been supplied showing evidence of funds for the fees that still need to be paid? Please give details of the document you will provide that shows you have enough money for your application. This should be in the form of a bank statement or other acceptable financial documents. Please see our website below for more details: If you are using your parent s bank statements, click No and answer the following question: What evidence have you provided that shows both the amount of funds available and your relationship to your parents or legal guardians? You are only permitted to use the bank accounts of your parents or legal guardians if you cannot use your own. A condition of this is that you must submit their bank statements, your original birth certificate, and an original International Support Team - version 1 August

18 letter signed by your parents confirming that you have permission to use their account. Points Claimed Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies Maintenance Total As a result, please give as much detail as possible whilst including these necessary documents.
