How do you get from the photo below of the indian blanket flowers to the second photo of a beautiful shawl? If you got a chance to get the the Route 66 show last November you might have

6 6 of 17 wonderful hat by the same knitter with the photo of a sunset as that inspiration. Well, Lalie Williamson, the woman behind these inspiring items will be our guest at the September 19th New Mexico Crochet Guild meeting. About 6 years ago, Lalie asked her parents to pay for a knitting class at UNM Continuing Ed for a Christmas present. They did, and after the first lesson, she spent the entire next week ignoring all other obligations and knitting instead. She finished a scarf that had a lot of mistakes, but it was a scarf! At that point, knitting took over everything, and it's become a big part of her life. Recently, Lalie has been venturing into creating her own patterns based on her other interests like movies and TV shows, so that she can show off both her hobby and her personality. Professionally, Lalie used to be a musician/piano teacher, but now teaches English composition at UNM Valencia, though she is going back to school to become a licensed teacher to teach in the public school system. Besides knitting, her other hobbies include reading, golfing, and sewing. Since inspiration can be found anywhere and everyone needs to be inspired at some time or other when knitting/crocheting/etc. this meeting will be open to any and all comers of interest. The meeting will be help at 1:30 at the Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located at 8600 Academy, NE in room 407. Please pass this information on to all the crafters you know.
