Now is the time to get your projects ready for the Spring events like the Albuquerque Fiber Arts Council Show on April 1-2, Colors of the Southwest. But for this show, we are soliciting items from members of any fiber arts guild, as well as individual artists who have not yet joined a guild but are interested in doing so. Entries will be juried but not judged. The show will be open to the public to show what we do in our fiber world. So talk among your guilds and get started on your entries. If you are not a guild member, but are interested in joining a guild, go

5 The Dropped Stitch Knitters Guild invites you to attend their Albuquerque meetings The Dropped Stitch Knitters Guild holds regular meetings on first Saturdays most months in 2016 with some exceptions.

6 VISITORS ARE WELCOME! Usually we spend a short time on group business, enjoy a presented program, and briefly share our current knitting projects in a show and tell. This is a friendly group - please join us. Annual dues are $50, but no charge for your first visit. Our usual meeting location is the North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center at 7521 Carmel NE. This is north of Paseo del Norte, just west of Wyoming. Plenty of parking.the time for the regular meetings will be 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. The meeting room can vary, but the front desk folks can direct you to the right room. The Turquoise Trail Chapter of EGA is hosting two-days of class April 9-10, 2016, with Sylvia s Murariu, noted embroidery teacher and designer who designs feature multiple techniques.

10 The Turquoise Trail Chapter of EGA is hosting two-days of class April 9-10, 2016, with Sylvia s Murariu, noted embroidery teacher and designer who designs feature multiple techniques. Students can select from two designs, The Partridge and The Pear and Hello Cutie. See photos of designs. Techniques taught include Romanian lace, stumpwork, surface work, applique, leather, needle-felting and more. Non-members of EGA may register. She specializes in 'Romanian Point Lace' (Needle-lace) which she has brought to a whole new dimension. Her hand-crafted art has an inspiring beauty that draws from a variety of influences, including Old World, historical references, and natural elements. Sylvia was brought up in Romania, where she lived for 34 years. The Romanian culture and people have a rich history spanning almost 2000 years. Sylvia has always been fascinated with flowers & lace, and is very passionate to promote this art and introduce it to you! In the last few years, Sylvia has developed her product-line to include a variety of needle-arts and is continually expanding her inventory. Sylvia creates her kits and products to be very simple and easy to follow. The Romanian Point Lace might look intimidating at first, but It's much easier to do than it seems, just try it!

13 The Partridge and The Pear This Mixed Media design is hand painted on paper, then transferred to the canvas. Includes a variety of techniques, as needle felting, canvas work, Romanian Point Lace, leather padding. The materials used are a variety of DMC embroidery floss colors, DMC Cebelia threads # 20, crocheted cord for the

14 leaves, rove wool for the needle felting, sequins, beads, memory wire, golden fibers, Kreinik golden and copper leather. Students will experiment a large variety of stitches and techniques as: crocheted cord, needle felting, needle lace, beading, padding. Stitches as: Wheat Ear, Chain, Back, Stem, French knot, Beading, Couching and Canvas stitches as: Smyrna cross stitch, One way couching, Diagonal and Oblong, Mirror Satin, Chevron. Students will practice the stitches on a practice piece before working on the actual project. This lovely design can be framed or used to embellish a purse or box top. Kit contains: instructions, pattern already transferred on Congress cloth, handmade cord, DMC Cebelia threads size 20, a variety of DMC embroidery floss, memory wire, rove for needle felting, beads, sequins, metallic gold and copper, Madeira threads, padding material, golden copper leather, needles and a practice design and crocheted cord to practice the technique and the stitches. Kit cost: $ Students need basic embroidery knowledge. Students provide 10/10 inch embroidery frames and basic sewing supplies. (Students who desire want to
