3 March Club Report President Gene Bengel opened up meeting at 1:35 p.m., which was attended by 43 members and welcomed all current members and new members of the Club. Bill Tuchscherer gave the treasury report. The club is in good financial standing. Cedric updated the membership regarding the Club patch. o Ordered 200 patches for the Club. o Obtaining a patch will follow the following guidelines: # If sell outright to club members, cost is $5.00 / patch # As an incentive for members' early dues payment, if paid during the Carving show, member would receive a free patch. # If new members signs up during the Carving show, new member would receive: a free club patch. And their membership to cover balance of this year as well as for the 2018/19 season. Greg Gauthier Linzy Creek Sawing, addressed the Club membership: o Has a portable sawmill in Gillet, Wisconsin o Has access to a lot of wood; some of which is hard to sell. o Looking at our Club to see what types of wood we use for carving and see if there are opportunities to support our needs. Membership asked questions and provided some feedback. o Currently, his wood is air dried however in near future he is looking at adding dry kilns. o Greg passed out his business card, offered membership to contact him for our needs, and is open to members visiting his mill. o Marjorie Berg will post Greg s contact information on the Club website for future reference. Gene Bengel discussed our upcoming elections: o Gene advised that 4 board members (i.e. Bob Doepker, Peggy Holzknecht, Cedric Richeson, and Steve Binder) and 1 officer-secretary (i.e. Pete Fronsee) positions are up for nomination at this month s meeting and election at the April meeting. o Gene accepted the following nominations by position: # For Board Members: Rodney Manthey, Lee Belanger, Chuck Butzlaff, and Steve Binder # For Secretary (Officer position): Cedric Richeson # Elections will be at the April monthly meeting, and those elected will be installed at the May meeting and take office at the September meeting (3/15 By-Laws, Art. 4 g & h).

4 Rich Weatherbee (Caricature Carver) o Gene advised Rich Weatherbee is willing to do another seminar session this year as he will be in the area. The available dates are June 11 16; cost would be $150. Rich can do either a caricature or a clay model. Minimum class size is 10. o The dates conflict with those attending the International Woodcarving Congress in Maquoketa, Iowa. So it is a question of whether we can get enough folks to commit. o Gene held a show of hands of members who would be interested. 7 hands raised. o Membership discussion wondered if Rich could do a combined class (for example half caricature carving and half clay modeling). Gene was not sure however will check with Rich and advise the membership. Dick Christensen, advised that he will be teaching a Killdeer (Charadrius vociferus) carving class in the fall at the Oshkosh Senior Center. If interested watch for the signup in August or contact the Senior Center then. Friendship Canes Update - o Bill Tuchscherer advised that it looked like we were in good shape to fill two friendship canes. This is a big money maker for the club so a BIG thanks to all who provided carvings for the canes. Table Registration o Bill Tuchscherer mentioned that as of the beginning of this meeting 25 tables have been registered for the show. However, he did expect that more folks would be signing up during and after the Club meeting. Slide Show

5 o Paul Wolters provided a nice slide show of members participating in this past year s club events. Lots of fond memories and a few laughs. o Nice job, Paul! Thanks for sharing. Club Member Carving Gallery: Ahmad Pima Irene Petrik Jim Goheen Denis Hoffmann Lee Belanger Paul Wolters
