Secretary: Ron Bean Call to order by President Ken Davis. Present: Ken Davis, Gene Boggs, Myron Nelson, Ron Bean, Don Hinrichsen, Harold Myers, Kye Starbird, Joy Thomson, Arla Mohnkern, Don Taylor, Gary Cummins, Pat Donlin, Gale Lawrence, Wolfgang Kneidl. GUEST SPEAKER: Guest Speaker, Dave Crawley was introduced by Ken Davis. Dave works with wood joinery and stained glass along with his wife Judy. He had several examples of stained glass work, which were absolutely beautiful. His main emphasis was on wood joinery, using an Incra LS positioner Jig. The patented Lead Screw (LS) unit is the leader in precision positioners for woodworking. It allows Dave to make precise cuts for box joints for wooden cabinets or wooden boxes. He showed several samples of his box joints. The precision he obtains from using this jig takes the guess work out of making tight fitting joints. Dave also recommends Incra Projects & Techniques book by Perry McDaniel.

Continued: Dave uses a light box for laying out his project for Stained Glass. He places his pattern on the light box, places his glass down and uses an oil pen to mark the glass. He then begins grinding his glass creating his project. As you may notice Dave has combined his woodworking joinery skill with his Glass Art by making a beautiful frame. New Members: None NAME TAGS: All name tags were worn today. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Ken received a letter from the City of Sequim requiring a permit for street banners advertising the show. Plus they charge for hanging the banner across the street from Costco on W. Washington Street. Since receiving the letter, Ken talked to a City representative who told him to disregard the letter announcing a mandatory permit. MINUTES: No minutes were taken of the May Meeting, as the meeting was held at Harold Meyers Workshop, when he demonstrated wood turning techniques. EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORT: Gordon agreed to be the Speaker on the topic of Sharpening of Knives and Gouges, but no firm date has been given. Getting a speaker for Native American Masks for the September

Continued: meeting was being discussed. Dale Faulstich and Dave Franklin are both being mentioned as possible speakers. Dale carved the Totem Poles located at Seven Cedars Casino. Our Chas Bridge talked to Dale Faulstich and apparently he would be willing to speak to our group. Ken Davis will contact Dale to firm up a date. OLD BUSINESS: Ken Davis has the Business Cards. We have a 2017 date stamp to use for them. Joy reported the Brochure is at the Printers and our order will be completed by the end of this month. The brochures will be done in plenty of time for our use in our booth at the County Fair, August 17th through August 20th. Myron Nelsen has Wood Artisan T-Shirts of various sizes for sale, the price is $12. I believe there is one Sweat Shirt. Please check with Myron if interested. NEW BUSINESS: None Treasurer: Gene Boggs Gene Boggs gave the Treasurer's Report and it was accepted as read.

Show Chair: Ron Bean Ron announced he would be contacting people to assist him in making our November 18th Annual Wood Artisan Show successful. A decision was made to have the Executive Board decide the rental fee for table space. It was agreed that a non-member should pay more for a table rental. At the same time it is realized that the Elks Club in Sequim on Port Williams Road is a large facility that should be filled with artists or vendors that share the club s interests. It was suggested we find at least one chainsaw artist to set-up outside the Elks Club. We are looking for additional artists or vendors that may be interested in displaying at our show. If you know of anyone, please contact Ron Bean at (919) or rawbean80@hotmail.com. Gene Boggs agreed to demonstrate Pyrography at a special table that would allow attendees to participate in trying a little Pyrography themselves. There would be special times allotted for this demonstration and exercise. Ken Davis volunteered to demonstrate the Micro Carver. There is an interest in finding a Cottonwood Carver. We will have a Christmas Tree Ornament display and sale again this year at the show. The Ornament Tree earned $200 in donations last year. So, fellow members sharpen your knives and see what you can contribute. Our Silent Auction Table is the primary fund raiser for our club. Last year our Silent Auction table brought in $700. At our last meeting the following have volunteered to donate to our Silent Auction: Gene Boggs, Myron Nelsen, Wolfgang Kneidl, Arla Mohnkern, Gale Lawrence, Don Taylor, Ron Bean, Gary Cummins, and Harold Myers. If I missed your name or you missed the meeting and want to donate to the Silent Auction, please let me know. We need donations! Web Master: Joy Thomson Joy plans to have all photos uploaded by September.

SHOW AND TELL: Both the plate and the wood plaque are carvings of Arla Mohnkern. Please notice the plaque is carved and not wood burned. The stick below is Arla s as well. Such a wonderful artist with beautiful art. Gene Boggs entertained us with a Caricature he wood burned, a golfer putting. His pyrography is fantastic as always.

Continued: Harold Meyers created the above pieces and brought them in for Show and Tell. The lidded box is made of Maple. The beautiful table top is a Pine Burl embedded with multiple stones in resin. The very interesting piece on the left is referred to as Lichtenberg, fractal wood burning by electricity or lightening. DANGER! This process is not for the faint of heart. The discussion involved transformers, microwaves and who knows what else. I was so lost in the process, I don t even know who did this piece. Shame on Gale. Sorry. :(

Continued: Harold Meyers made both of the Cherry wood bowls that hold yarn. What a wonderful idea. Raffle Several items were donated for the Raffle: X-Acto knife and electric driver won by Gary. Tool box won by Joy. Two wooden boxes won by Kye. A yarn bowl won by Gale. There were round plaques with bark that were offered for sale. $3 for the small size and $5 for the larger sizes. Quite a few were sold, but there could be some more left, check with Myron.

ATTENDANCE The attendance drawing was won by Wolfgang. Wow!!!! Clallam County Fair: Gale Lawrence Your art that is to be displayed in our booth at the County Fair, please bring to Gordon s Shop on Tuesday, August 15th. So far I have commitments from the following: Ron Bean, Harold Meyers, Gene Boggs, Gary Cummins, Don Taylor, Kye Starbird, Chas Bridge, Gordon Day, Shelia Fritts, Gale Lawrence, and Arla Mohnkern. Sharing our art with the community is important. If you have to make other arrangements you can contact me (Gale): (360) or glknhevn@yahoo.com I have included an updated schedule for working in our booth on the following page.
