1 December2017 What a fun year this has been so far! And it's not over yet! The Winter season brings us new classes, for kids too! Be sure to check out our brand new class list. Of course Winter Haven Retreat will be upon us soon. so we can spend our days doing what we love and enjoying those who share our passion for creating from fabric. If you haven't yet been to one of our epic retreats, you simply must try one! Our Clubs will be in full swing as well. All of our clubs are running this winter, including a new Kid's Club. CLASS SCHEDULE Quilt Workshops Basic Quiltmaking must be taken before you can take a workshop that is marked with an * BASIC QUILT MAKING Tues. Jan. 9,16,30 Feb. 6 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Thurs. Mar. 1,8,15,22 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Instructor: Michelle or Sue J. Class Fee: $45.00 Pattern: Included This simple 4-patch design teaches the basics of rotary cutting and strip piecing. It would look great in juvenile prints for a child or from fabrics that will give it a more sophisticated look. We will introduce you to time-saving shortcuts, show you how to use the tools that quilters love as well as teach you to layer, bind, and machine quilt. The first session will be devoted to discussing needed supplies and selecting your fabric. BASIC II * Beginner Tues. Mar. 6,13 9:30 am-12:30 pm or 6-9 pm Instructor: Michelle Class Fee: $35.00 Pattern included After Basic I, the next step is to learn to make half square triangles. Oh, the possibilities!! It takes 3 fabrics for the pieced top. You get to select the size you wish from king to crib! FREE-MOTION QUILTING * Tues. Apr. 17 9:30 am - 11:30 am or 6-8 pm Instructor: Michelle Class fee: $25.00 Supplies included In this class you will learn to quilt with your sewing machine and finish all those quilt tops quickly and attractively. With all the new battings and threads available, machine quilting is beautiful. The basics will be discussed and you will do hands on sewing. Everyone should learn this technique HAND EMBROIDERY BASICS Skill level: Beginner Tues. Feb. 20 5:00-7:00 pm Instructor: Becki Class Fee: $20.00 Join Becki to begin learning some basic embroidery stitches. She will get you started using the Pretty Little Pins pattern by This N' That. And then she will show you what you can accomplish after the basics. The beautiful projects will leave you wanting to do more! HAND QUILTING Skill level: Beginner Tues. Mar. 20 5:00-7:00 pm Instructor: Becki If you have ever thought you would like to learn the basics for hand quilting, then now is the time. Becki will show you everything you need to know. T-SHIRT CLASS * Beginner Mon. Mar :00 am - 1:00 pm or 5:00-8:00 pm Instructor: Char Class Fee: $24.00 Book Suggested In this class you will learn how to make a treasure from those worn, but special T-shirts. You will be offered different ways to put your shirt blocks together. The finished quilt will be a large lap size. MACHINE APPLIQUE * Skill Level: Intermediate Wed. Jan. 10 Learn the basics of machine applique with an experienced instructor. Sue T. You will make a fun tea towel using a pattern from Bloomin Minds CLASS REGISTRATION INFORMATION: CLASSES WILL BE CANCELLED IF THE MINIMUM OCCUPANCY OF THAT CLASS IS NOT MET. Her love and knowledge of wool is sure to be inspiring. Don't let the beauty of Bargello scare you away from making one! Sue T. will teach the techniques and process to learn the art of Bargello. Jan :00 am - 12:30 pm FOUR SEASONS Wool Have you been wanting to learn the technique of paper piecing? Sue T. will teach everything you need to know to begin, and make beautriful placemats as you do. RAG QUILT * Wed. Mar. 21 Instructor: Tish Book required Join Tish and go to the next level of wool applique and embroidery by learning all the wonderful stitches for this striking project. Tish will be holding a class every three months for stitching all four seasons. FIDGIT BLANKET Rag quilts are so much fun to make. Come learn how quick and easy they are. The color and size options are unlimited! The technique can be usedto a full ran of quilt sizes from baby to king. INTERMEDIATE PAPER PIECING * Skill Level: Intermediate Wed. Jan :00 pm - 2:30pm Fidgit blankets are designed to soothe and stimulate people with alzheimers. Add on those who are recovering from stroke. Feb am - 1:00pm Instructor: Vermeda Pieceful Pines by Pam Buda Runs 8 months April Make a 37" x 37" quilt with 3" & 12" s tars without "Y" seams! Simply give us call and check the availablilty of the room for the date you desire. A fee of just $5.00 a head with a maximum fee of $ You never have to pay over $20.00 for a group! As long as the room is not previously reserved its yours during normal business hours! BOLT OF THE DAY! Everyday we have a Bolt of the Day! How it works: The first customer of the day who buys fabric selects the Bolt Of The Day! All day that bolt remains on our front cutting table and is 25% off per yard - until it is sold out. And the next day we start all over again! Machine Maintenance Frank services machines the second week of the month, any make or model. Have your machine here by 2nd Monday of the month. He will have it ready by the end of the week.

Quilts of Valor Once a week we will have Susie here to answer your questions and run demos. Machines are in store now! Informational meeting January 19th 9:30 am - 10:30 am We are an authorized Quilts of Valor store. Becki will be your host at the informational meeting and then for all the gatherings that follow with this program. HOT CHICKEN SALAD Ingredients: 4 C. Cooked chicken, bite size 2C. Chopped celery 1 C. Mayonnaise 1 C. Cream of chicken soup 1 tsp. Lemon juice ½ to 1 C. Water chestnuts sliced ¼ lb. Fresh mushrooms 1 Jar pimiento Chopped green onions 1 pkg slivered almonds, optional Directions: Mix all together, put into sprayed 13 x 9 pan. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees or until hot in center. When almost done, top with shredded cheese. Serve with crackers or toasted bread.
