Infant Crisis Services On the first Friday of the month, a very remarkable thing happens inside the Oklahoma Quiltworks classroom. Volunteers flood the room with sewing machines, fabric, enthusiastic chatter and a whole lot of love to make quilts for the very young whose families are in need. Oklahoma Quiltworks supports, as its community project, Infant Crisis Services (ICS) by coordinating the effort and receiving donated fabrics for this incredible quilt-making project. The volunteers who donate their time, energy, love and talent complete more than 40 baby quilts each month. Volunteers, who want to help but are unable to join in the all-day quilting sessions, can donate their time by sewing quilt tops at home. Packaged, pre-cut kits are ready to be picked up at the shop. Just piece, press and return. We also take 100% cotton fabric donations for ICS. Meeting Date, Fridays, 9:30 3:00pm January 8, February 5, March 4 and April 1

10 Appliqué - A New Technique Class Level Beginner / Intermediate Instructor - Dianne Lee Tuesday, March 15, 9:00am 4:00pm Class Fee - $25.00 # Yet another technique! For years I have LOVED applique, and always check out the best entries at quilt shows. Some work just stands out in a class of its own. Recently I was able to attend workshops to learn the thinnest stems I ve ever seen. Plus, many benefits I ll be sharing with those who want to advance their skills. Paper Cut Valentine Appliqué Class Level - Beginner / Intermediate Instructor Darcy Ashton Friday, February 12, 10:00am 4:00pm Class Fee - $40.00 # You can still be a beginner but I recommend that you have some applique experience. Many of the techniques taught are unique and even experienced sewers will learn something new. We will tackle many of the problem areas in appliqué with emphasis on marking, basting, clipping, and sweeping curves using a needle.

Basic Quiltmaking Level: Beginner Instructor: Toni Owens Saturday, Monday February 1, 5:30pm 9:30pm and Monday, February 15, 5:30pm 9:30pm # or Saturday, March 12, 10:00am 3:30pm and Monday, 28, 5:30pm 8:30pm # Class Fee $40.00 This class is designed for the person who knows nothing about quilting, yet also provides helpful hints and tips for those looking to improve their present skills. We start right at the beginning by looking at Fabrics, Color and Notions, then moving on to the correct usage of the rotary cutter, rulers and how to master that quarter-inch seam used in quilt making. You only need to know how to sew a straight stitch. The class specializes in individual attention and hands-on training. You will learn how to make Piano Keys, Bricks, Checkerboards, Half-Square Triangles and Flying Geese to use in a pillow, table runner or quilt.

12 Finish-It Basic Quiltmaking Level: Beginner Instructor - Toni Owens, Gigi McEver / Sandy Clapp Saturday, April 16, 10:00am 4:00pm and Saturday, April 30, 12:30-3:30 pm Class Fee $40.00 # This is a new class that teaches the Finishing of the quilt. Learn to add borders, sandwhich, baste and quilt (hand or machine). The last step is binding and a most important part - labeling your quilt. This class will benefit any type of quilt making: pillows, wallhangings, table-runners and of course quilts. This is a two-part class. Pre-requisite Basic Quiltmaking or obtained basic skills from another source. Free-Motion Quilting II Class Level - Advanced Beginner Instructor Charlotte Hickman Friday, March 11, 10:00am 4:00pm # OR Friday, April 8, 10:00am 4:00pm # Class Fee - $50.00 Learning to quilt your quilts is a wonderful technique that enables you to make your quilt from beginning to the very end with your own quilting designs. This is satisfying and rewarding. We will play with different designs on sandwiched fat quarters. We will also look at and discuss the quilt top that you bring to class for quilting design suggestions that you can stitch at home. The Golden Threads light weight paper will be used for drawing your own designs. Come learn how quilting can be a fun process.

13 Level Beginner Instructor - Mauri Richey Saturday, March 5, 1:00pm - 4:00pm Class Fee $25.00 # Quilt Binding by Machine Start to Finish My idea of handwork involves a stapler and glue gun. Neither of which are the best way to bind a quilt. So in an effort to avoid handwork I ve come up with a fast way to machine bind my quilts. And since the first thing to wear out on a much-used quilt is the binding, it only makes more sense! (Hand finished bindings are lovely and a must for heirlooms and quilt shows, they aren t really practical for quilts that are used and washed more frequently especially kids quilts.) I can bind a queen size quilt in about 2 hours and so can you. Come learn my techniques and soon you ll have professional looking and durable bindings in a fraction of the time it takes to hand stitch one. This class is the perfect follow up to the Basic Quiltmaking Class. Block of the Month Class Level Beginner Advanced Instructors Debbie Aldridge or Toni Owens Class is Free Thursdays, 1:00pm 4:00pm January 14, February 11, March 10, April 14 Many of you have asked for a monthly Block of the Month Class.
