Opening face-off is set for 1:00 p.m. TUNE IN The Friars game against Hofstra will be streamed live on Friars All-Access, which is available on the College s athletic website at com. In addition to a live stream, the game will be on commercial radio (WOON 1240 AM). Live stats also will be available. Links for the stream and stats can be found on the men s lacrosse schedule. PROVIDENCE VS. HOFSTRA ALL-TIME Providence and Hofstra have met seven times during the history of the two men s lacrosse programs. The Pride lead the all-time series, 6-1. Last year, the Friars fell at then-no. 11 Hofstra, In 2016, Providence knocked off then-no. 12 Hofstra by a score of It stands as the program s lone win against the Pride. FRIARS SUFFER THIRD LOSS IN A ROW Providence fell to Harvard, 11-8, on Saturday, March 10 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. The Friars complied three wins to end February, but have started March on a threegame skid. One-goal losses to Sacred Heart in overtime and to UMass Lowell have the Friars in search of their first win since Feb. 24. NO LUCK FOR THE COMEBACK KIDS On March 6, Providence trailed UMass Lowell, 9-1, with 6:17 remaining in the second quarter. The Friars marched all the way back to eventually tie the game at With just five seconds on the clock, UMass Lowell tallied the game-winner to wipe the Friars comeback hopes away. Most recently (March 10), the Friars trailed Harvard by as many as five goals. Providence was able to pull back within three, but ran out of time to close the gap. TATE BOYCE RANKS 10TH IN THE NATION IN SAVES/GAME All-American goaltender Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) ranks first in the BIG EAST and 10th in the nation in saves per game (11.43). He also ranks 14th in save percentage (.566). BOYCE FEATURED ON 2018 TEWAARATON WATCH LIST... The 2018 Tewaaraton Award Watch List was revealed on March 1. The list includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse. Providence College goaltender Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) is one of 50 players on the watch list. The Tewaaraton Award, established in 2001, is given annually to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player. The 18th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held on May 31, 2018 at the Smithsonian Institution s National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. Boyce, the first player in program history to be named to the Tewaaraton Watch List, is one of the most highly decorated players in Providence College lacrosse history. At the conclusion of the 2017 season, he

2 Third-Team All-America honors, Inside Lacrosse Media All-America Honorable Mention, All-BIG EAST First Team and BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year recognition. DOUBLE-DIGIT POINTS Sean Leahey (Cranford, N.J.) leads the Friars with 16 points on 11 goals and five assists. Four other Friars have cracked double-digits, including Nick Hatzipetrakos (Syossett, N.Y.) who ranks second on the team in scoring (15 points) and leads the Friars in goals (14), while also adding one assist. Austin Goltz (Orchard Park, N.Y.) has 13 points (10g/3a) and Brendan Kearns (Wantagh, N.Y.) has 12 points (6g/6a). Freshman Evan McGreen (Naragansett, R.I.) rounds out the double-digit scorers with 10 points (5g/5a). LEAHEY LEADS THE FRIARS ON ATTACK Sean Leahey (Cranford, N.J.) leads Providence in scoring through seven games with 16 points on 11 goals and five assists. He scored a career-high five goals for five points in Providence s season-opener against No. 20 Boston University on Feb. 3. He has recorded at least one point in five of the Friars seven games, including at least one goal in four games. He has recorded 3+ goals in two games: Boston University (five) and Bryant (three). Leahey missed the Friars last game against Harvard. FACE-OFF GAME The Friars enter the weekend with a winning percentage at the face-off X. Alex George (Simsbury, Conn.) leads the way, having won 40-of-74 opportunities (.541). RJ Romeo (Wilton, Conn.) has seen the second-most reps at the X and is (.537). He took the large majority of face-offs in the Friars last game, winning attempts against Harvard. The team went overall in that most recent game. BOYCE RECORDS SEASON-HIGH 16 SAVES AGAINST SACRED HEART All-American goaltender Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) recorded a season-high 16 saves against Sacred Heart on March 3, and nearly matched the total in the Friars game against UMass Lowell on March 6, with 15 saves. Most recently, he put up 13 against Harvard to give him 44 saves over the last three games. ONE-GOAL GAMES Four of the Friars seven games have been decided by one goal, including three of Providence s four losses. Additionally, two of the losses have been decided in overtime. Providence s lone victory in a game decided by one goal came against Saint Joseph s (4-3) on Feb. 24. OVERTIME HEARTBREAK ON THE ROAD... The Friars are 0-2 on the road this season, and each loss was decided in overtime. In their first contest of 2018, the Friars fell at No. 20 Boston University, 12-11, in overtime (Feb. 3). Providence also fell to Sacred Heart in OT, 10-9, on March 3 in Fairfield, Conn. KELLER RECORDS CAREER-HIGH FOUR GOALS In the loss to UMass Lowell on March 6, senior Joshua Keller (Grand Rapids, Mich.) recorded a career-high four goals. His previous career high for goals in a single game was two. He entered the game with just one goal this season, and now has five on the year, which is tied for fifth on the team. short of the title in a 10-9 loss to Marquette on May 6, PC also achieved it s first-ever national ranking (as high as 20). 10 IS THE NUMBER TO BEAT... The Friars posted a 10-7 overall record (3-2 BIG EAST) in 2017, and finished third in the BIG EAST Conference standings. The Friars 10 victories are tied for the most wins in program history for a single season, and are the most wins since FRIARS EARN BIG EAST WEEKLY HONORS... (Feb. 26) Senior defenseman Ian Grey (Clifton Park, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. Grey helped lead the Friars defensive effort against St. Joseph s to capture a 4-3 victory. Grey and the Friars allowed zero goals for the Hawks in the second half. He picked up two groundballs and caused one turnover in the win. (Feb. 19) Junior goaltender Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Boyce finished with 12 saves in the Friars victory over Bryant (13-8) on Feb. 17. In goal, Boyce posts a 2-1 record in He owns an 8.51 goals-against average and a.527 save percentage on the season. (Feb. 12) Zach Masessa (Montgomery, N.J.) was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Masessa registered his first collegiate tally against Holy Cross in the Friars 9-6 victory on Saturday, Feb. 10. Masessa, made his collegiate debut Boston University on Feb. 3 and collected two groundballs. (Feb. 12) Nick Hatzipetrakos (Syossett, N.Y.) and James Barclay (Toronto, Ontario) were named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. Hatzipetrakos registered six goals over two games, including five goals against the Crusaders on Feb. 10. Barclay has played an integral role on the Friars defensive line and has posted one assist, six groundballs and caused three turnovers in two games for the Friars. SCOUTING HOFSTRA The Pride enter Saturday s game at Providence with a 3-2 overall record. Hofstra is on a three-game winning streak after defeating Monmouth in mid-week action (March 14). Hofstra posted in a massive 12-6 victory over then-no. 8 North Carolina (March 10). The Pride opened the season with losses to top-10 opponents Ohio State (9-7) and Villanova (7-2). PLAYERS TO WATCH Three members of Hofstra s team have reached double digits in the points column. Ryan Tierney leads the Pride with 19 points on 12 goals and seven assists. Jimmy Yanes and Dylan Alderman both check in with 11 points. Yanes has eight goals and three assists, while Alderman has four goals and seven assists. Jacob Concannon has started all five games in net for Hofstra. He holds a 5.82 goals against average (1st in the nation) and a.613 save percentage (4th in the nation). Kyle Gallagher has taken every face-off for the Pride and won 52-of-87 opportunities at the X (.598). He leads the team with 34 groundballs. WHAT S NEXT Providence returns to action on Sunday, March 25 against Drexel at 1:00 p.m. on Vidas Field in Philadelphia, Pa. Live stream and live stats will be available via Drexel s website ( FRIARS HOLD SAINT JOSEPH S TO THREE GOALS The Friars earned a 4-3 victory over Saint Joseph s on Feb. 2. The three goals marked the fewest allowed by Providence since April 23, 2008, when the Friars defeated Wagner, ROAD WARRIORS The Friars will play five of their final seven regular-season games on the road. The only remaining home games on the schedule are against St. John s (March 31) and Denver (April 21). FRIARS PICKED TO FINISH THIRD IN BIG EAST PRESEASON POLL... Providence was picked to finish third in the 2018 BIG EAST Preseason Coaches Poll, with a total of 16 points. Denver was picked to win the league, having collected five first-place votes and 25 points overall. Villanova was picked to finish second, with one first-place vote and 21 points. THREE FRIARS EARN PRESEASON ALL-BIG EAST SPOTS... It was announced by the league on Wednesday, Jan. 24 that Providence College men s lacrosse players James Barclay (Toronto, Ontario), Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) and Conner Byrne (Hicksville, N.Y.) were named to the 2018 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Boyce and Barclay were each honored as unanimous selections. FIVE FRIARS NAMED TO NEILA PRESEASON TEAMS... Five members of the Providence College lacrosse program were selected to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division 1 Preseason Teams. Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) and James Barclay (Toronto, Ontario) were First Team selections. Brendan Kearns (Wantagh, N.Y.), Sean Leahey (Cranford, N.J.) and Conner Byrne (Hicksville, N.Y.) were named to the Second Team.
