3 The origin of the product The Piranhaclamp-system was invented in Switzerland in 2012 by 2 bright engineers. The system was designed for automated machines in 5-axis machining. A highly sophisticated and mature clamping system was created after a 3-year development period. After a prolonged testing period on 5-axis machines and a examination by the EMPA (Switzerland), this product is now ready to claim the tough demands on the global market. Product description The Piranha centering vise is characterized particularly by its high quality and accuracy. All elements are 100% made in Switzerland, and that under continuous monitoring of process safety and requirements of ISO 9001 standards. Only the best materials are used. All elements are hardened to meet the high demands. Most of the parts surfaces are treated to prevent corrosion. The most important parts, such as the spindle and guiding pillars, have been coated in order to cope with the high pressures and to reduce the friction on the guiding elements. With the double row of teeth, the Snapper jaw is especially convincing, as the lower row provides the pull-down spring return of the raw part, whereas the upper row of teeth keeps the part in position. With only 3 mm clamping depth, the tensioner is one of the best of its kind. The low construction height is unique on the market and a quick cleaning of the spindle and clamping jaws is guaranteed due to the open construction. Its resilience is tremendous, with the spindle enduring pressures that go well over 1300 Nm 2. Through the continuous enhancements of the release, a quick-changesystem was implemented beginning of 2015 leaving nothing to be desired. Within a few seconds, the various versions of the jaws can be changed. Especially to date, it guarantees minimal changeover times. The range of jaws can go from Snapper jaws to highly accurate jaws for the finishing machining, or soft jaws made of steel or high-strengthened aluminium for flush parts.
