3 KOENIG EXPANDER TEST PRESSURE TEST PRESSUREA The KOENIG EXPANDER is staticall loaded p to brst pressre. This test is performed at SFC KOENIG for fnctional testing dring the prodction process. Samples from each prodction batch are sbjected to this fnctional test. The conterbored hole (d 2 ) mst be properl sied for the throgh hole (d 3 ) according to the dimensional sheets. Holes mst be rond ithin With hard materials the bore roghness shold be from R Z = μm for best reslts. Longitdinal rifles and spiral grooes shold be aoided. These inflence the sealing effectieness. The bore mst be free of oil, grease and chips. SETTING PROCEDURE With the ball facing ot the KOENIG EXPANDER is inserted in the conterbored hole. The top sleee shold not be aboe the srface of the base material (Fig. 1). With onl a slight or no conterbore, the base of the sleee mst be adeqatel spported dring installation. The ball can no be pressed in ntil the top of the ball is belo the edge of the sleee (Fig. 2 and 3). Corresponding approimate ales for stroke S as ell as the dimensions X are from the table belo. Use the proper sie setting tool for the KOENIG EXPANDER according to the data sheet. Spra cleaning ith air dring is the onl a to clean/degrease plgs before installation. Do not dip and acm dr the plgs. PRESS Small qantities or single parts can be installed ith a haer and a setting tool. Installation can also be done ith an arbor press. It is preferred to limit stroke trael hen sing a press becase insertion force is difficlt to control. KOENIG EXPANDER plgs are also ideal for atomated installation becase the are problem free. The bore mst be free of oil, grease and chips. SETTING PROCEDURE With the setting hole facing ot, the LP-plg is inserted in the cone bore. The top sleee shold not be aboe the srface of the base material (Fig. 1). The LP-plg can no be pressed in ith the setting tool. Corresponding approimate ales for stroke S are from the table belo (Fig. 2). Installed LP-plg (Fig. 3). Use the proper sie setting tool for the KOENIG EXPANDER according to the data sheet. A higher setting force might occr if the LP plgs are ashed before installation. PRESS It is preferred to limit trael hen sing a press becase insertion force is difficlt to control. Recoended setting speed is 5 /sec. The KOENIG EXPANDER ensres an opti orientation, it orks perfectl ith atomatic processing. PLUG REMOVAL With KOENIG EXPANDER LP plg remoal is possible. The plg can be drilled ot ith a high speed steel drill. PROCEDURE: Drill ot, in one process, to the net larger diameter, nominal diameter d4 according to the data sheet. Drill the taper hole ith a reamer p to diameter d3 according to the data sheet. Clear chips, remnants of the sleee, and oil and grease from the bore. Install a ne KOENIG EXPANDER. After plg remoal alas install the net larger sie plg.
