May have something to do with going from 80 degrees to -54 degrees in a few hours? I am so thankful for each and every contributor who has helped me this week, making sure we keep delivering more plans. I truly wish I could post plans for every single request you send our way, and am committed to taking on as many as possible. Today, I have a special treat for you. I wanted to do plans for the bench and hutch seperately to avoid confusion for people out there just trying to make the bench. The hutch plans will come next week. It is also advisable to review the Getting Started Section. Take all necessary precautions to build safely and smartly. Work on a clean level surface, free of imperfections or debris. Always use straight boards. Check for square after each step. Always predrill holes before attaching with screws. Use glue with finish nails for a stronger hold. Wipe excess glue off bare wood for stained projects, as dried glue will not take stain. Be safe, have fun, and ask for help if you need it. Good luck! Step 1 Page 8 of 18

11 [27] Then attach all four panels to make a box. You can drill pocket holes to attach with pocket hole screws as well. NOTE: you may wish to attach plywood pieces (next step) before assembly - especially if you are using small scrap pieces. Step 4 Page 11 of 18

12 [28] Plywood the insides with 1/4" plywood or beadboard and attach with glue and nails. Step 5 Page 12 of 18

13 [29] Build top frame first, then attach. Be careful to attach so that the front opening is square and measures 29" wide as well so your top goes on nice. Another option is to attach top to top frame (see last step) with hinges before attaching to base to make sure everything fits just right. Step 6 Page 13 of 18

14 [30] I really like the added moulding. I recommend cutting to fit, mitering corners with a miter saw. Step 7 Page 14 of 18

15 [31] You can attach hinges by setting on top (easiest method) or in the joint. Finishing InstructionsPreparation Instructions: Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe project clean with damp cloth. It is always recommended to apply a test coat on a hidden area or scrap piece to ensure color evenness and adhesion. Use primer or wood conditioner as needed. Source URL: Page 15 of 18
