3 Hi DIY Friends! Happy Friday!!! I'm so very excited today to debut brand new plans for you! As you know, I've been teaming up with my good friend Jaime from That's My Letter [3] to bring you a new gift plan each week [4] between now and Christmas. Page 3 of 32

16 27 1/2 HUTCH /2 25 1/2 1-3/4 30 Thick cardboard or foam board for signs 7 1/2 x 25 1/2 (you want these to be lightweight to prevent falling hazard) General Instructions: Please read through the entire plan and all comments before beginning this project. It is also advisable to review the Getting Started Section. Take all necessary precautions to build safely and smartly. Work on a clean level surface, free of imperfections or debris. Always use straight boards. Check for square after each step. Always predrill holes before attaching with screws. Use glue with finish nails for a stronger hold. Wipe excess glue off bare wood for stained projects, as dried glue will not take stain. Be safe, have fun, and ask for help if you need it. Good luck! Page 16 of 32

19 [22] And then the back shelves themselves - notice they sit flush to the 1x2 rungs, but don't make it to the front of the 1x6 sides. Page 19 of 32

20 [23] Jaime also recommends adding a fourth 1x2 at the top - flush with the 1x4 shelf backs - to give the plywood (next step) something to attach to at the top. Page 20 of 32

21 [24] Then attach the 1/4" plywood to the inside of the front. For the chalkboard, you can paint the chalkboard on the plywood, or try the office section of your big box store for a foam chalkboard or whiteboard (they are usually super cheap and come with adhesive stickies). Page 21 of 32

22 [25] You'll need something to keep the play stand from tipping forward or backward - these guys will do the trick. NOTE: If you go higher, you may need to make these wider - use your best judgement here. Page 22 of 32

23 [26] Now for the top - find the center, and attach the short 1x3 in the center. Page 23 of 32

24 [27] Then attach the longer 1x3s on either side, overextending equally. Page 24 of 32

29 [32] And finally, it's time for the signs - I recommend lightweight foam board just to prevent any injury and because it's cheap and easy to work with and comes in a variety of colors. Step 14 Page 29 of 32

30 [33] Jaime has free patterns for the buntings here [5] - so check them out too! Finishing InstructionsPreparation Instructions: Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe project clean with damp cloth. It is always recommended to apply a test coat on a hidden area or scrap piece to ensure color evenness and adhesion. Use primer or wood conditioner as needed. Page 30 of 32
