Over the years, Chick has built on that success, employing new manufacturing technologies, incorporating customer feedback, and continuing to work every day to support our mission of efficiency through workholding innovation. As the vast majority of our customers have experienced, the System line for batch production and the One-Lok TM CNC Vise one-off production offer even greater benefits in versatility, speed, strength, and efficiency than older Chick systems. Therefore, as of March 3, 00, no new complete E Series workholding systems will be sold. While most E Series parts will continue to be a stocked item (see red circles on following pages), some items will not be stocked. These items will be available in one of the following ways: Items marked by a gray circle will be available only while supplies last. For example, bases will be available while we have the material and machines to make them. During this time, we will make sure that we have all of the items to be able to assemble the bases complete. However, when the material runs out, we will no longer offer these items. Made-to-order Items marked by a yellow circle (e.g., faceplates, jaw carriers, high jaws) will no longer be inventoried but will NOT be retired at this time. Instead, in an effort to support our customers, they will be available on a made-to-order basis. Note: Made-to-order items will require a $8 setup fee on every order (including repeat orders) regardless of quantity ordered and a minimum two-week delivery.

7 Notes QL E SERIES DUAL STATION SET-UP: Center Jaw Jaw Jaw Third Hand Mechanism. Design and machine QwikChange Machinable Jaws to interface with the workpieces, or install hard jaws. NOTE: All reference surfaces must be located on the Center Jaw. Loosen the screw on the Third Hand Mechanism with the T-wrench. 3. Slide Jaw (moving jaw at the rear end of system) far enough from the Center Jaw to fi t the fi rst workpiece.. Insert the fi rst workpiece against the Center Jaw and slide Jaw toward the workpiece leaving a desired clearance. (Clearance range should fall between.00 to.0 ) NOTE: This clearance is set to ensure easy part removal when the system is unclamped, and will allow for variations in part size.. Tighten the screw on the Third Hand Mechanism until it bottoms. NOTE: Hand tightened screw only(3 Ft Lbs). Do not overtighten! 6. Remove the fi rst workpiece. 7. Adjust Jaw (moving jaw at the operator s end of system) using the swivel wrench so that it is far enough from the Center Jaw to fi t the second workpiece. 8. Insert the second workpiece against the Center Jaw and tighten Jaw to contact the workpiece by turning the swivel wrench clockwise until Jaw just starts to move. NOTE: The moment Jaw moves, a spring force within the Third Hand Mechanism is activated. This force holds the second workpiece in place allowing both hands to be free so that Operation 8 can be accomplished.. Insert the fi rst workpiece and clamp in position by turning the swivel handle clockwise. When tightening use the wrench provided or a torque wrench. Do not use any cheater bars or hammers. Overtightening the screw can damage the system and lead to poor performance. NOTE: Due to the free-fl oating slide mechanism within the workholding system, this clamping action will not only clamp the fi rst workpiece, it will also clamp the second workpiece with the same force. This equalization of the clamping force applied to both sides of the fi xed Center Jaw will prevent the Center Jaw from defl ecting. SET UP SINGLE STATION SET-UP: Jaw Jaw Third Hand Mechanism. Design and machine QwikChange Jaws to interface with the workpiece(s), or install hard jaws.. Bolt the endplate to near end of Qwik-Lok with four of the included socket head cap screws. NOTE: If setting up Multi-Lok skip step, since topplate is already bolted to the Multi-Lok column. 3. Loosen the screw on the Third Hand Mechanism with the T-wrench. NOTE: Adjustment of the Third Hand Mechanism screw is not necessary when the system is used in the single station mode. It should be left in the loose condition to allow free movement of Jaw.. Slide Jaw fl ush with the endplate and bolt Jaw to the endplate with two of the included socket head cap screws. NOTE: All reference surfaces must be located on Jaw and/or the Center Jaw. Use the swivel wrench to adjust Jaw to suit the workpiece. Turn the swivel wrench clockwise to clamp the workpiece.
