Supplies: Stamps: Lovely as a Tree (Stampin Up!) Paper: Glossy White, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand (Stampin Up!) Ink: So Saffron, Cherry Cobbler, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand, Basic Black (Stampin Up!) Accessories & Tools: Speedball Brayer, Scratch paper (scrap paper), temporary adhesive (optional), white gel pen, post-it notes for masking, sponge, Word Window punch, 2 red half-pearls, permanent adhesives Cut the following pieces of cardstock: Glossy White: 3 3/4 x 2 1/2 Basic Black: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded in half (card base) Cherry Cobbler: 5 x 3 3/4 (inside panel) 3 7/8 x 2 5/8 3 5/8 x 3 3/8 Sahara Sand: 4 3/4 x 3 1/2 (inside panel) 3 1/2 x 3 1/4 Set aside all the pieces of cardstock for later (except for the glossy white). Optional: Use temporary adhesive to hold glossy white paper onto a large piece of scratch paper. That way the cardstock doesn t move around when brayering. Take the time to wipe off the surface of the glossy paper with a clean towel because ink will not stick to any oily spots on the paper (i.e. fingerprints). Now on to the fun stuff!

2 Start by masking the snow. Roughly rip the sticky edge of a post-it note and place it covering approximately 1/3 of the bottom of your cardstock. Starting at the top of your cardstock, brayer with So Saffron ink, taking it right down to the masked area. Next, brayer Cherry Cobbler on top of So Saffron, making sure to not completely cover the So Saffron. You want to have some of the previous color showing so you have a graduation of colors. Brayer the very top with Rich Razzleberry, again making sure to not completely cover the Cherry Cobbler.

3 Sponge the edge of the mask with Cherry Cobbler. This makes the top of the snow darker and more defined. When sponging, ink your sponge and then dab it off a few times on your mask, slowly working your way towards where you want the sponging on your card. That way you won t end up with too dark a line you want it to be subtle. The tree stamp has hills at the bottom of each tree and you don t want those to show in your snow area. Using masking tape, cover the hills on the stamp, ink the trees with Basic Black and then remove the masking tape. Stamp onto your brayered background, making sure the trees are mostly above the masked area. Remove mask. Use a Basic Black Stampin Write marker to extend the tree trunks into the snow. It s a good idea to heat set the trees before moving on to the next step. You want to make sure the ink is dry and won t smudge. It turns out that heat setting intensifies the Rich Razzleberry ink resulting in a more vivid sunset.

4 Now you create the drifts of the snow. Using a fresh post-it note, roughly rip the edge to create a new mask. Don t use the one that has Cherry Cobbler ink on it it may transfer red ink onto your snow. Move your mask around until you re happy with the placement and sponge along the top with Sahara Sand. Move the mask again and repeat, adding as many snow drifts as you d like. Using a white gel pen, add snow to the trees (down one side of the trunks and along the tops of branches). Wet a clean toothbrush with lots of water and brush it over a Craft (slow-drying) White inkpad. Splatter drops of white ink over the whole page by flicking the bristles with your thumb.

5 Now on to finishing the card Mount the (almost) square piece of Sahara Sand onto the (almost) square piece of Cherry Cobbler; then mount it onto the Basic Black card base, leaving an even border along the top, bottom and right-hand side (approx. 1/2 ). Mount the brayered cardstock onto the smaller piece of Cherry Cobbler; then mount the framed image on top of the square frame, centering it from top to bottom and leaving a border on the left-hand side that matches the size of the border of the square piece on the right-hand side (approx. 1/2 ). Punch two Word Windows using Basic Black cardstock, trimmed them and mounted them on top of the brayered image (see picture for placement one Word Window is longer than the other). Add one half pearl on each Word Window piece. Finally, mount the large Sahara Sand piece onto the Cherry Cobbler frame for inside the card. Using a Black Stampin Write Marker, ink only one tree on the stamp and add it to the top right-hand corner. Add snow using the white gel pen.
