1 Self Portrait Recycled Materials
2 Your task for this homework project is to research artworks that are made from recycled materials and then create your own recycled material self portrait.
3 Key Dates This project runs from 10/11/14 and it is due in by 05/12/14. Projects must be handed in at student reception. Suggested Timeline Week Suggested Task 1 Tasks 1 and 2 2 Task 3 3 Task 4 4 Task 5
4 Task 1 You need to find websites which will give you information and pictures about recycled artworks and the artists who created them. Here are some good websites to get you started: Choose 2 artists that use recycled materials. Choose 2 recycled artworks, from different artists. Describe what their artwork looks like and what it is made out of. Explain where they collect their recycled materials from and how they turn these materials into artworks. Research artists that use recycled materials. Find out where they collect their recycled materials from and how they use these materials. Select a couple of examples and describe how and why the artist uses recycled materials. Describe how effective you think the artworks are. Present your findings. 1
5 Task 2 Think of some materials you could use. Create idea sheets. You are going to create an artwork, from recycled materials, about something you are interested in. Fill a page with images of your hobbies and interests. Write down what materials you could use in your artwork. You are going to create a recycled self portrait. Fill a page with photographs of yourself. Identify what materials you could use in your artwork and where/how you could collect them. Record your thoughts in a visual brainstorm. You are going to create a recycled self portrait, that also shows your hobbies and interests. Fill a page with photographs of yourself and images of things you are interested in. Look at what other artists have used and how they have used them. Identify what materials you could use in your artwork. Brainstorm your thoughts and evaluate your findings. 1
