1 Astronomy is Awesome! (85 points) Final Boardgame Project Instructions: Working in groups of 4, students will create an Astronomy boardgame. Students will spend 1 ½ block periods creating and building the game and 1 block period presenting and playing each other s games. Students should use the following sections from the textbook: 12.1, 12.3, 12.4, 14.1, 14.3, 14.4, 14.5 The final boardgame must include the following: questions/answers typed/pasted on index cards facts either incorporated onto board in some creative way and/or on index cards and they must have a function in the game colored pictures either incorporated onto board and/or index cards. 4. A storage bag to keep all the parts/game together The final presentation must include the following: 1. Introduce the game: Title, objective, Rules and Instructions 2. Features of the game: Pieces, artwork etc. 3. Group members must each be able to answer 1 random question from their 20 questions/answers 4. Answer questions regarding how to play the game or why the game looks the way it does from the class. Before beginning in the Media center, your groups homework for 5/22-23 is to get the Boardgame Supplies. I will stamp the rubric pg.6 at the beginning of class to verify that the supplies were brought to school on 5/ Mandatory supplies: 1. Index cards 2. Storage bag 3. Cardboard for the actual boardgame Day #1 in Media Center: (5/24-25) Pages 1-3 (the pages are labeled to specify) Formalize the information from pages 1-3 Day #2: (5/29-30) Build Boardgame Day #3: (5/31-6/1) Presentations and Play

3 PAGE 1: Each student per team will find 4 interesting facts from the textbook (total 16 facts). Include the page number, section number and a picture for the fact. The picture for the final game can either be hand drawn or from the internet. The assigned student will formalize the 16 facts and the 16 pictures for homework. Ultimately, teams will incorporate these facts into the boardgame in a creative, functional way. Pictures can just be decoration on the board, or maybe if you land on a picture something good happens, or if you land on a fact something bad happens, or maybe you have index cards with facts that you have to pair up to pictures.its up to you : : : :
