2 Watch out for Cupid! Dear Scrappers: Welcome to Just Kitting s LOVE MONTH. There s nothing like a little love to warm our hearts during winter! This month you ll find kits addressing all types of love whether it is romantic, playful, friendship, or motherly love. It focuses on some of my favorite subjects: scrapbooking, music, Valentines, birthdays, Fluffy Unicorns, babies, love bugs, Mickey Mouse and Snoopy. Hopefully you ll fall hopelessly in love with some of these kits as well. While I am NOT a winter person, I created two winter layouts for those of you who (1) love snow or (2) are Frigid Hares like me. I had actually waited to create a snow layout since snow was sparse in Dec and Jan. But when a foot of snow fell, I was inspired to create Tigger tromping down a snowman. 3 Bearing Best Wishes! St. Patty s Day You asked for more birthday layouts. This is the first of a new series. $14 (Reg. $18) Birds of a Feather Celebrate Together Well flap my wings. Look what you did!!! $14 (Reg. $18) You bet Your Shamrocks I m Irish Ahhh shucks! I am a lucky duck! $18 St. Patrick is the beloved patron saint of Ireland. The Irish are famous for spinning exaggerated tales, so despite the infamous stories traditionally attributed to St Patrick, quite little is actually known about his life. We do know that St Patrick was born in Britain and that at the age of 16 was captured by Irish raiders who attacked his family's estate. He was then transported to Ireland where he was held captive for six years, living a solitary, lonely life as a shepherd. It was then that he became a devout Christian, embracing his religion for solace. From his writing, we know that a voice, which he believed to be that of God, spoke to him in a dream, urging him to leave Ireland. He did. Walking nearly 200 miles, Patrick escaped to Britain and undertook serious religious training. After 15 years of study, Patrick was ordained as a priest and sent to Ireland. His mission was to minister to Christians and to convert the Irish, then predominantly pagans, to Christianity. Because Patrick was familiar with the Irish language and culture from his years of captivity, he chose to incorporate Irish ritual and symbols into his teachings rather than to eradicate Irish beliefs. Thus, was born the Celtic cross. Patrick superimposed the sun, a powerful Irish symbol, onto the traditional Christian cross so that the result would seem more natural to the Irish.

5 The Cards Always Warm My Heart What is Winter Warm Up? All proceeds from the 23rd Annual Winter Warm-Up benefit Cardinals Care, the team's community foundation supporting kids. This event page can easily be transformed into a regular baseball layout. $18 Smitten by the Love Bug Cardinals Care was established to give fans a way of teaming up with Cardinals players and the organization to help children in the St. Louis community. Cardinals Care has invested over $22 million to support St. Louis area children. Established in 1997, Cardinals Care has provided over $13 million in grants to non-profit youth organizations and built 23 youth ball fields in local underresourced neighborhoods in both Missouri and Illinois. Since 2004, Cardinals Care has also orchestrated the innovative Redbird Rookies program. Redbird Rookies is a free baseball league for kids who otherwise might not have the opportunity to play. In addition to providing all the uniforms, gloves, bats, balls and other equipment needed for each team, Redbird Rookies also provides extensive off-field support in the areas of health, education, mentoring and the cultural arts for each of the nearly 4,500 kids who participate in the program each year. Weathering the cold by counting the days to spring. $18 Celebrating 13 Years of Just Kitting 13 Year Anniversary It s hard to believe that Just Kitting is celebrating its 13-year Anniversary, thanks to my faithful scrapbookers. Over the years, my scrapbooking kits have evolved using different tools from Sizzix to Cricut to Silhouette. It has weathered the many scrapbooking fads. Moving forward, I promise to continue to bring you the most creative designs and the highest quality kits. Thanks for being part of my scrapbook family. Q: How long does it take to create a kit? A: It varies. I think about upcoming kits for months before I start to create them. I keep an idea file of characters, images, and titles. I am always on the lookout for how I can put paper, characters, and titles together in a clever way. Drawing a character with layers, takes several hours. Creating a title with accessories on the Silhouette usually takes at least an hour. Designing the layout takes another hour. Taking a photo, writing directions, and assembling the pieces for each design (14 18 each) takes about a full day.
