The minions in the first film are voiced by the directors of the movie, Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin. Evil minions are purple because purple and yellow are on opposite sides of the color spectrum. In the first film, there were really only seven well known main and notable minions that names are mentioned by Gru and has a big part which are: Dave, Stuart, Kevin, Jerry, Tim, Mark and Phil. 18.
