Start your engines, and pick some day trips, cruise-ins and car shows to attend. Come to MACC meetings to learn about happenings, and you will meet a bunch of people with similar interests as yours. We are beginning to get very excited about the 2015 Vette Spectacular on June 6 th. If you are a new member or have never participated, this is a wonderful time to witness MACC members at their best. We have many jobs, from parking to food preparation, and our members handle them all with expertise. Please volunteer your time and talents to make this the best MACC car show ever! Watch the MACC website for events on the calendar. This Club is only as good as you make it.

Each won first place trophies in their class. Many thanks go out to all MACC members who were able help collect donations for Magic Moments during the World of Wheels.

2 Message from the Vice President David Overton The World of Wheels was a great success. Thanks and congratulations go out to Jocko Lewis, Johnny Dunn, Paul Woodard, Les Barnes, Bill Brasher, Tony Waitzman, Larry Lindley and Dwain Lawrence for entering their Corvettes. Each won first place trophies in their class. Many thanks go out to all MACC members who were able help collect donations for Magic Moments during the World of Wheels. Thanks also, to those who helped set up and take down the display. Our MACC Vette Spectacular is coming up on June 6, We need all MACC members who are able to help find sponsors. Sponsors can be anyone from your mechanic, to your hairdresser, your accountant, your neighbor, even yourself. All the money we raise from the Vette Spectacular goes to Magic Moments. We hope to have flyers and sponsorship letters at the next club meeting. The Bama Coast Cruise in Orange Beach is coming up on April Hoke Graham will be going, contact him if you would like to caravan to Orange Beach. Corvettes for a Cause Car Show in Lawrenceville Georgia is scheduled for April 25. Phyllis and I will be going to this show. Contact me if you would like to caravan with us. Birmingham Freightliner has invited MACC to display our Corvettes at their annual Open House on May 21. This is a Thursday between 11:00 and 1:00. Anyone wanting to go can contact Wayne Allen. Museum News Fred Atkins In September of 1995 the R8C program began. In the years leading up to now, the NCM has delivered new Corvettes to buyers from every state including Alaska and Hawaii. Plant tour times have changed. Public tours are now scheduled for 8:30, 11:30 and 2:00 Monday through Friday. No tours are scheduled on April 3, July 3, September 7, November 26, 27, December 24, 25, 28 and 31.

The money raised in the raffle will be donated to Magic Moments, along with the proceeds from the MACC Vette Spectacular on June 6 th Corvette Trivia Corvette Trivia Thom Williamson The 1997 Corvette C5 was the first Corvette designed from the ground up to be a Corvette, not borrowing parts from other cars. The first 200 production C5 Corvettes were painted Red, not the traditional color for the first production run. One of the few "Off the Shelf" parts - the exterior door handles, same ones used on the Oldsmobile Aurora. The first use of a transaxle in a production Corvette occurred in the '97. However, the first plans for one were in the Q-Corvette in 1958, planned for the 1960 model. Transaxles showed up in Corvette prototypes in the mid '60s in running models. The first 4 speed in a Corvette was built by Borg Warner in The first transaxle in a production Corvette was also built by Borg Warner, forty years later in The 1997 Corvette is the first Corvette to have windshield wipers that sweep in the same direction instead of opposing directions. It took 55 hours to

build the new C5 Corvette, down from 70 hours for the previous C4 model. The 1997 Corvette production year ended on July 21, 1997 with a total of 9,752 new Corvette C5's.

This was a record low for the Bowling Green plant. The last time Corvette production was this low was in 1958 when only 9,168 Corvettes were built. Corvette Cruisers Bowling League Sara Boehme The Corvette Cruisers are back in full swing having fun and getting some exercise while we enjoy playing and visiting with each other. We bowl on Monday nights starting at 6:00 at Vestavia Bowl. Come visit with us if you are looking for something fun to do. You just can't laugh at missed spares and gutter balls!! Also if you would like to be added to our sub list, please let me know. We are always looking for more part time bowlers. We will be finishing for this season the middle of April and will start back up next September.

9 A Future Corvette Owner! C7 Owner Reviews Several MACC members have recently purchased a new C7 Vette! Hope you enjoy the pictures and a brief review of these beautiful cars!

10 Jeff Benedict 2015 Black Z51 Favorite Feature: I love the sounds the car makes: the roar under hard acceleration and the pops and gurgles after down-shifts. Least Favorite Feature: My car has the standard seats and the left seatbottom bolster constrains my left leg in a way I dislike no matter how I adjust the driving position. Not sure if the competition seats would have been any better. Issues: No issues. I would like more flexibility when it comes to buying wi-fi data. Purchased From: Edwards on US 280. Larry & Cheryl Linley Favorite Feature: My favorite feature on my C-7 is all of the electronics, Nav system, instant information on all systems, the aluminum frame but most of all is the comfortable ride. One interesting note while my wife and I were in the Corvette in our small town's Christmas parade in Argo, we were

11 tossing candy to the kids and a gentleman yells out "throw me your keys". Least Favorite Feature: The least favorite is the blind sides on the convertible. I do wish it had available lane change warnings. Issues: Only one problem was the idler pulley had to be changed due to a rattle noise when the engine changed from 8 cylinders to 4. Barber Chevy took care of problem immediately. Purchased From: Barber s Chevrolet, Scott Barber. Really a very pleasant experience. Dwain & Tricia Lawrence Favorite Feature: Tricia - HEATED Seats!!!! With her own controls on the passenger side!! Dwain - The feel and look of the totally new interior. The new dash and media center is awesome!! Also, the new electronic power steering makes handling a breeze. Least Favorite Feature: Haven't found one yet! Issues: The only issue so far has been squealing brake pads (like in parades). Hopefully that will be fixed on our first service checkup. Purchased From: We picked up our C7 baby on May 12th out in Oklahoma. We have really enjoyed it thus far, with about 6,000 miles now.

12 Jonathan & Kelly Davis Shark Grey, Coupe Z51, 8 Speed Auto My wife Kelly and I just bought a new C7 a few weeks ago. Love the car! Favorite Feature: The different driving modes you can set with a simple turn of a dial, and the 8 speed automatic is incredible. Least Favorite Feature It s a little tighter getting into than my C6, or maybe my knees are getting worse? Issues: I have had no issues. Can't wait to start putting some miles on it. Purchased From: Edwards Chevrolet, Hwy. 280 Mike Sparks Favorite Feature: It is a very nice car a home run for GM. Issues: None Purchased From: Carl Cannon
