Soon we will be turning our attention to matters pertaining to the event itself, & all the goings on! Members with ideas please contact me or any officer of the club and voice what you have in mind. This request is open to all regional members and national as far as that goes! We would love to see some members from other regions show up. And it appears we will have very full goodie bags for all attendees! The October Chapter meeting held in Taylor Texas in conjunction with the Main Street car show & was really great fun. There were well over 100 cars attending. The entire main street for three city blocks was cordoned off making it very easy for folks to walk around and enjoy their time in Taylor among some very nice cars. And the weather was perfect!!! Many shops on Main St. were also open. Feeling like a little kid in a candy store, I got distracted and failed to remember to give out the remainder of name tags. I have since mailed them out. Any members without a chapter name tag please let me know, as Steve Brookins is going to make one more run of needed tags soon. One just never knows what will happen at such an event, and this event did not disappoint. We all meet up at Lazono s Mexican restaurant like birds flying south, everyone just kind knew to meet up there One member had to leave early and forgot to pay his tab and I got cornered after leaving the restaurant by the cashier. Is there some reason I appeared to be the one to corner for this? Ha Just as he was hot rodding down the street heading home in his newly acquired Ford Coupe. Needless to say we covered this oversight and tipped very, very well. To make up for this crazy karma I purchase three raffle tickets and won $30 worth of BBQ Ha! 2 PAGE 2 VOLUME 4 ISSUE 11 November 2014 Meeting Notes November 2014 Meeting Taylor, Texas November 1st was wonderfully bright fall day. Our chapter had accepted the invitation of Mark Campbell to combin our meeting with the Taylor Texas Main Street Car Show. Knowing that there would be little chance for a formal meeting the chapter members driving cars adhered to the car show schedule and showed up to park together on Main. Joe Clark, Rodney Lemmon and Mark Brians attended with their cars. Jerry Potter attended substituting his newly acquired Model A hot rod for his trusty 40 coupe. Mark Campbell was part of the meet organizers and was busy attending to the needs of keeping the meet running smoothly. We got a few minutes conversation exchanged and an introduction to Marks son before he was off attending to keeping things running smooth. Yolanda and I found the chapter cars easily as Mark had posted the Chapter flag where the Hudsons were parked. Easily identifying participation and location to all. Like Rodney noted in his comments we moved from the cars to the restaurant and there found the Fellas had completed lunch. The group consensus was we would for go any formal meeting. We returned to the area were the Hudsons were parked and Mark Brians provided us with a summary of the actions taken in support of the 2016 Big Country Regional Meeting. So, this summary is a substitute for minutes. Remember 13 December is the next meeting of the SOUTH TEXAS CHAPTER and it will be held at Mark and Lorraine Brian s. 3 VOLUME 4 ISSUE 11 PAGE 3 Chapter Chatter: South Texas Chapter on Facebook Mark Brians has a full head of steam and is dividing his time between tour planning in his capacity as the Central Texas Studebaker club president and coordinating the activities behind planning the 2016 Big Country Meeting. When not focused on those projects he and Lorraine are getting ready to host a 2014 Christmas party for the Studebaker Club and South Texas Chapter at their garage complex in Temple Texas. Joe Clark Busily working on his 50 C 2Dr and was in Waco recently to have his reworked fuel tank cleaned and sealed. Dave Nault Recently shared with me that the ignition wiring on his Hornet was the chief reason the engine was hard to start. Changed out ignition wiring has created a much quicker starting and smoother running engine. He also pointed out that the Winter 2014 Issue of Hagerty Classic Cars magazine has a Hudson Hornet on the cover. The cover is a teaser for a short internal article comparing the attributes of 3 other vehicle manufacturers to Hudson. See some of that within this issue. Rodney Lemmon - not one to sit on his hands, Rod had made great progress on the garage project. Ken and Yolanda Cates- Attended the Fall Colors Tour Meeting hosted in Nocona Texas by the North Texas Hudson Club. While there we visited the Horton Classic Car Museum and had the opportunity to share with members of the North Texas and Kansas Hudsonite club members. Ken, Lew Bird and Rick Lawrence visited Jim Guinn, Nocona based Hudson owner and shared some time with him as well as collected some sheet metal pieces for Ken s 54 Wasp Club Sedan.

We are located at 7156 W FM 436 Belton Texas Contact Phone: Our Christmas Party will have a Mexican Buffet with all homemade goodies. We are asking that members to bring a new medium size stuffed animal or donate $5.00 for the meal. We will buy more Teddy Bears with the money and donate them all to the Texas Highway patrol to be given out to children involved in car crashes etc. If you would like to bring a desert please do. We will have our crazy Christmas gift exchange of presents of about $10. You do not have to participate in the gift exchange. But it always fun. Please mark ladies gifts. We will have a number of door prizes to give out also. This is our first joint Christmas party so come and enjoy. No RSVP is needed as we will have food and drink for a crowd. We will get started and Eat about 12:30 but come early if you like.

7 PAGE 7 VOLUME 4 ISSUE 11 TECH TIPS from Mark Brians Have you noticed cold air coming in under the dash or the passenger seat this winter? Or if you are blessed with air conditioning in your car does it seem to be warm under the dash. I have looked for holes or leaks in the firewall but still seem to have leaks. Many of our old cars have a cable to turn the heat off. It goes to a valve in the Air duct. The other cable regulates the water valve for the heater. I seem to overlook the Air valve. In December I had the heater turned off water and Air but I was still getting cold air from somewhere. Most of our old cars have air valves and vents that have seals that after 40 to 50 years have gone to pot. So no longer blame those air leaks on just the door gaskets. Check out those Air valves in the shop manual or take a few minutes to look at how the air flows into your car. I think how much gas I wasted trying to cool all that hot air in the car.
