2 Recent Events Happy New Year It is hard to believe it s 2017! George Burns once said, If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself. On New Year s Eve Eve, Chef Austin and his team provided a wonderful meal plus we had entertainment during lunch. Then the countdown...5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Happy New Year! In 2017, may you have: 12 months of happiness, 52 weeks of fun, 365 days of laughter, 8,760 hours of good health, 525,600 minutes of joy, and 3,1536,000 seconds of peace. Dawson Youth & BINGO A group of 6th grade girls from Dawson Church dropped by to bring candy, visit and play BINGO with the residents in Somerset. It was difficult to tell who enjoyed the visit more! The residents had 2 BINGO callers because both girls wanted to call. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. 1 February 2017 Newsletter
3 Regency To The Movie What a great true story! Hidden Figures is about three brilliant African-American women at NASA who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn (Glen Powell) into orbit in the early 1960s. We had a great resident turnout. If you get a chance you must see this inspiring movie! Samford Opera Performs At Regency Students from the Department of the Arts at Samford University came by to perform for us. And PERFORM, they did! They shared operatic scenes from Marriage of Figaro, Elixir of Love, and Gentleman s Guide to Love and Murder. It was quite a treat to hear such talent from our local university. Who knows, we might just read about them a few years down the road! Regency Retirement Village of Birmingham 2
