John Marek Entertainment A big thank you to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring John Marek Entertainment at the library back in October. 16 children and their families enjoyed juggling, magic tricks, music, and storytelling during the 45 minute long program. Proceeds from Little Chair-ity were used to fund this event. Like us on Facebook! I like books. I was born and bred among them, and have the easy feeling, when I get in their presence, that a stable-boy has among horses. - Oliver Wendell Holmes

3 Lines From Leon for November 2012 Trees and Chairs As I told you last month, Paula and I made a short trip to Ottawa, Ontario to care for our two grand children while their parents went off for fun in the sun in Florida. I can t remember being that busy as a parent. We went to School conferences with our thirteen-year-old grand daughter, Foodie Fest with our nine year old grandson, flute lessons, piano lessons, swim lessons, chess club, trick or treating, the library and more. It was a fast week, and we were glad to leave that lifestyle and get back to the busy one we have here. I continue to pick up Little Chairs all year long, and this year is no exception. I currently have about 35 pieces for next year. Cindy McKinnon has agreed to Chair this event for us again next year, so it will be a well organized one again. As you know, the Celebration of the Trees is fast approaching. Marcia Martin has done her usual Great Job of organizing this event for the support of the library. The posters are up for advertising, and the new road signs will be out next Monday morning. Charles Zegoski will be helping me do that task. Check out the Place Mats in use at the Shelby Bakery. Helen, at the bakery, suggested trying this to advertise the annual Celebration. This seems to be working to get the word out, so I ll be looking to expand to other restaurants next year. Next week, of course, is the set up of the trees. We start behind the scene activity on Tuesday after Ed Parsekian cuts and delivers the trees to the library, helped by Abraham Johnson. On Tuesday, Rick Isley and Ross Field trim the trees to fit in stands. Thanks to all you for your continued help with this event. Wednesday is Trim the Tree day for set up so we can open on Thursday. For those of you that have attended this event, you know that it really is the beginning of the Christmas Season for a lot of us. Join us on Saturday and Sunday for Music and Refreshment. Final Bids are at 3 PM Sunday, and will be read again this year by Jim Young, the Publisher of the Oceana Herald Journal. We appreciate the continued support we get from all of the people at the newspaper, not just for this event, but all year long. See you at the Celebration. Leon Celebration Hours: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Open Regular Library Hours. Sunday Open noon to 3 PM with Final Bids at 3 PM Please note. We will NOT have a Friends meeting in December. See you on January 9
