1 Sept & Oct Downtown: Where Tradition Meets Today!!! BIG NEWS!!! Upcoming Events October 7th Fall Fest Tannehill Park 12 noon 5 pm October 14th Night at the Museums 3-10 pm October 31st Trick-or-Treat Trail 4:30-6:30 pm November 4-5th Light Up Moberly Holiday Decorating November 27th Christmas Parade November 27th Small Business Saturday December 7th Living Windows Your board of directors made an exciting decision at their August meeting to purchase the building at West Reed. With help from several of our board members, Century 21, and 1stCommunity State Bank, we took ownership on Friday, September 15. The Main Street Moberly office will be moving to one of the retail spaces at street level by the end of November. The other retail space and the four apartments located on the second floor will provide an additional income source for our organization. We are excited about being in our own space, being able to participate in the revitalization of downtown and having additional funds for other projects. As you may remember, our organization received a grant from Missouri Main Street two years ago. We have learned so much and have many great new resources from around the state and country. The comment was made following our last state conference that we now feel like we know how to operate much more efficiently and professionally. This purchase was the next step in our growth! At the September meeting, we voted to sell the land at 316 West Reed to Mr & Mrs Jerry Swartz. The Swartz s approached us about buying the lot because they are the new owners of the Duval & Reid building. By having the lot next to that building, it gives them more options for revitalization. The previous owners, Mike & Terry Soendker, who had donated the lot to us earlier this year, were consulted and supported our decision. Adding to our excitement, we re happy to share that Matt & Deanne Brownfield have purchased 303 and 323 West Reed, in addition to the historic Moberly Courthouse building. The Brownfield s are researching and utilizing historic tax credits to renovate those buildings. They also own the former Commerce Bank building and the Car Wash, both located in Downtown Moberly. Opportunities abound to volunteer with Main Street Moberly especially this time of year. If you would like to add your name to our list of volunteers, just give Diane a call. Great things are happening Downtown!
