This enhanced signal is available only on HD receivers, which are now available at most electronics Not Coming in Clearly? FM signals reflect off objects such as mountains or buildings. Because of this, sometimes just moving a radio to a different location in a room will improve reception. An inexpensive wire antenna, called an FM dipole: can be added to radios that have terminals labeled antenna. After the dipole has been added to a radio, the antenna should be oriented for the best reception. If you listen along the Front Range, a high definition receiver may improve your reception. You can also listen to KUNC online at Click on the Listen Live icon. For additional information on receiving our station, please contact our engineer: Larry Selzle or larry.selzle@kunc.org Core Values Audience Respect means that CRNC will honor the informed and curious nature of its listeners and members. Program Excellence means that CRNC will ensure that KUNC only broadcasts programs that are of the highest quality. Balanced Programming means that CRNC will ensure that all points of view are presented on KUNC. Community Based means that CRNC will maintain the regional foundation upon which it was founded. 3 Non-Commercial means that CRNC will preserve its status as a non-profit organization & that KUNC will remain free from direct advertising. 2 Program Guide Ways To Support Us! Welcome to KUNC, Community Radio for Northern Colorado As the first Colorado public radio station to join National Public Radio, KUNC has long been recognized as an innovative leader in public broadcasting. The station was the first Colorado public radio station to offer All Things Considered, Morning Edition, Weekend Edition, and Car Talk to listeners in the state. KUNC was also the first non-commercial station in Colorado to extend its programming services to previously unserved areas utilizing a series of translators to extend public broadcasting to rural plains and mountain communities across much of Northern Colorado. KUNC offers national and international news provided by National Public Radio, American Public Media, Public Radio International, and the BBC. Local and regional news is gathered and reported by KUNC s award winning news team: Brian Larson, Kirk Siegler, Grace Hood, Deanna Garcia and Katie Goetz. KUNC s Diverse Music is a blend of classical, jazz, acoustic, singer-songwriter, and world music that features regional, national, and international Artists. Hosted by announcers Kyle Dyas, Wendy Wham and Marc Applegate, this unique format was created in 1981 and has been a critical part of the station ever since. KUNC s broadcast team is well known and respected in the community and the radio industry. An award-winning staff with over 100 years combined experience creates a product that has earned honors from the Public Radio Program Directors Association, Colorado Broadcasters Association, PRNDI, The Associated Press, and The Radio and Television News Directors Association. 12:00 AM 1:00 AM 2:00 AM 3:00 AM 4:00 AM 5:00 AM 6:00 AM 7:00 AM 8:00 AM 9:00 AM 10:00 AM Monday-Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Echoes BBC World Service Morning Edition Jazz After Hours BBC World Service Weekend Edition Car Talk 11:00 AM Wait Wait Don't Tell Me Diverse Music 12:00 PM Marketplace Money A Prairie Home Companion 1:00 PM Speaking of American Faith 2:00 PM Routes The Splendid Table 3:00 PM 4:00 PM 5:00 PM 6:00 PM 7:00 PM All Things Considered Marketplace All Things Considered Fresh Air This American Life Thistle & Shamrock A Prairie Home Companion Bob Edwards Weekend This American Life Living On Earth All Things Considered E-Town 8:00 PM Beale Street Caravan World Cafe 9:00 PM Nine O'Clock Blues 10:00 PM 11:00 PM Echoes Music Programming Entertainment Jazz After Hours News/Business St. Paul Sunday Hearts of Space Echoes Interview/Information With your support, KUNC will continue to be a leader in providing Diverse Music, National Public Radio programming, and local Colorado news. 4 HOW PUBLIC RADIO WORKS TO BENEFIT YOUR BUSINESS Public radio s value proposition is wholly distinct from commercial radio in a handful of very important ways. 1. Passion so strong, it translates into financial support. Listeners love KUNC programming and they validate this passion with their checkbooks each year, contributing more than $ 1.3 million in 2007 to support the station. 2. Favorable association for sponsors. Corporate sponsors benefit from their connection to public radio; 58% of listeners agree that public radio sponsors are more credible than commercial advertisers. 3. Favorability and purchase preference among listeners. 95% of public radio listeners have taken a direct action as a result of sponsorship, acting on their preference to do business with partners of their station. KUNC listeners are your best customers. Source: NPR & Jacobs Media Underwriting Study, Summer 2007 Phone survey conducted by Edison Media Research
5 AN UNUSUALLY EFFECTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR YOUR CORPORATE MESSAGE In an increasingly cluttered ad environment, it is harder and harder for companies to ensure their message stands out. Public radio offers a rare opportunity for you to connect with listeners who are engaged with both content and sponsorship. A unique comfort with corporate messages on public radio More than 80% of NPR listeners agree that they are comfortable with the quantity of sponsorships on public radio today. In direct contrast, 87% of listeners say there are too many advertisements on commercial radio these days. Listener remain engaged throughout public radio breaks Focus groups consistently reveal that listeners, when asked to rate programming on a real-time basis, are much more likely to engage with NPR sponsorships than with commercial ad breaks Commercial newscast NPR newscast Public Radio Listeners Scoring: 0 = total tune-out 9 = total engagement 5+ = Positive Response during program Response during break KUNC listeners are your best customers.
