1 General Specifications Model RD Safety arriers GS 00S0-0E GENERL The RD intrinsic safety (IS) barriers, connected to intrinsic safety devices installed in a hazardous area, configure an IS system in such a way that electric currents and voltages delivered from a safe area into a hazardous area can be limited to prevent energy generated in the IS circuit from igniting specified explosive gases. RD -700 RD-80 RD is certified by Technology Institution of Industrial Safety (TIIS), Japan. Offered in two types: RD-600, -700, -800, and -80 Zener barriers, and RD-80 and -80 isolated barriers. The RD-600 is for use with a thermocouple and can be used with double-element thermocouples. The RD-700 is for use with a resistance temperature detector (RTD) and the RD-800, -80, -80, and -80 are for use with a to 0 m signal. The RD-90 and -950 are power supply sets for RD-80s and -80s. The RD-90 consists of a single power feed unit and the RD-950 consists of dual redundant power feed units that are mounted on a DIN rail through which a power rail is running. They supply power to RD-80s and -80s mounted on the same rail. 4 EXMPLES OF LLOWLE INTRINSILLY SFE IRUIT WIRING LENGTH The table on the right shows examples of the allowable wiring length when combining these safety barriers with a Yokogawa s IS field device. Ensure that the wiring length meets the criterion and the wiring resistance does not exceed the allowable external wiring resistance for the receiver instrument connected. The table simply shows values that meet these two criteria. For the wiring resistance with which the combined devices can actually work, refer to the documentation of the model used.
