21 Situation of Galileosat In line with indications given by the Council in December, IOV contractual framework has been revised end of December along the following lines: ESNIS contract terminated ESA taking over the prime contractor role N-1 contracts and System support novated with the segment primes now fully responsible for their segment 21

23 Technical Status Space segment : EM & FU delivery is proceeding according to plan STM test under way EM test will start in a few months Ground Mission Segment Large number of elements have completed the CDR System CDR is planned for March 2008 Ground Control CDRs of elements are now completed Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) will start mid 2008 GCS CDR will occur in 2008 Test User Segment CDR was completed successfully in Feb 08 23

31 Future Set-up European Commission will be the customer and will retain the final management responsibility of European GNSS; ESA should act as procurement agent for Galileo, following a number of conditions indicated in the «GNSS Regulation» approved by the European Council and Parliament 31

32 European GNSS Evolution OBJECTIVES Consolidation of the system definition of a future European GNSS together with the associated implementation plans for the EGNOS and Galileo system evolutions. Development and validation of candidate technologies for the evolutions of the EGNOS and Galileo space and ground segments. Definition, development and implementation of a number of laboratory and out-door test-beds to test critical technologies and demonstration of potential new services as support to the system definition studies. Undertaking of a number of activities as accompaniment to the EGNOS/Galileo Programme including support to standardization and international activities, general GNSS monitoring, interface with the scientific community, and the provision of technical advice to application developers on system evolutions. 32
