2 DALLAS CAMERA CLUB HOSPITALITY SCHEDULE by The Editor November 2 November 16 December 7 December 21 Bruce Faust Bill & Joyce Forbis Debra Freeman Art Givens Jessica Gluck Karen Groves Dr. Kay Hale Kaye Hargis Robert Johnson Annual Christmas Party!! HOSPITALITY - Linda Clifford has volunteered to take on the hospitality chairperson duties for the rest of this club year. She will bring ice, cups, small paper plates, napkins and forks to each meeting. Additionally, she will call you when it is your turn to bring snacks. If you know you will not be at the meeting when you are scheduled for hospitality, please make arrangements to find someone to take your place and let Linda know as well. Those members whose names appear each month in the space above are still asked to bring drinks and/or snacks to the meeting that they are listed by. THE BIRD COMPETITION It was a close one! But the Ft. Worth Camera Club outscored us by one point and gets to keep the coveted Bird trophy for another year. The final score was Dallas points, Ft. Worth points. We came out on top in the slides division, scoring 172 points to Ft. Worth s 167. In prints the scores were Dallas - 163, Ft. Worth 169. Wait til next year!!! Thanks to all who submitted prints and slides. And thanks to our 3 judges who volunteered their time. Jim, we hope you are feeling better. COMPETITION SUBJECTS FOR THE CLUB YEAR May 4th - Open June 1st - Architectural Detail July 6th - Open August 3rd - Backlighting September 7th - Open October 5th - Nighttime Images November 2nd - Open December 7th - Macro January 4th - Open February 1st - Water ( vapor, frozen, liquid) March 1st - End of Year THRU THE LENS DALLAS CAMERA CLUB FIELD TRIPS Join us for a weekend at Enchanted Rock and in old Fredericksburg on November Enchanted Rock is a state natural area. The "rock" is a huge pink granite dome that rises 425' above the ground and covers 840 acres with a beautiful stream that flows by the base. It is particularly photogenic early in the morning and late in the evening, and the view from the top is breathtaking. It is located on FM 965 about 18 miles north of Fredericksburg, an old German settlement founded in Fredericksburg features lots of antique stores, museums, restored 19th century homes and buildings, scads of B&B's or furnished cottages and several really good restaurants. Plan to meet the rest of us at Freidhelm's Bavarian Inn, 905 W. Main, at 7:00pm Saturday for a great schnitzel dinner. If you plan to go, please contact me at or We may be able to arrange joint accommodations or transportation for those who are interested. If you want to make your own arrangements, call the reservation There is also a Super 8 and Holiday Inn Express in town. Also of interest is Lost Maples State Park, about 60 miles SW. It boasts one of only two stands of native maple trees in Texas, and they should be spectacular at this time. Fredericksburg is 260 miles from Dallas. Follow I- 35 to Austin and go 60 miles west on US 290. I prefer the scenic route down through San Saba and Llano on SH 16. For example, an image printed in shades of blue might be used to convey cold. Or perhaps, an image printed in shades of pink to reflect love. Sepia prints would qualify. This is a one month challenge for monochrome only. No change to the color print competition rules.
