June 15 - We saw the Wild Flower Weekend field trip slide show and enjoyed a presentation from Alex Bischoff and Swapan Sarkar on how to get a web site up and running to show a member s images. CONTEST - Turn in OPEN category for slides and prints. We will view the results of last month s turn in, Architectural Detail. July 20 - Meeting at Parker College. PROGRAM - William Snyder, a three time Pulitzer prize winner for his photography will be our speaker this evening. We will also view the Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie field trip digital slide show put together by Ken Zapp and Kaye Hargis. August 3 - Meeting at Parker College. CONTEST Turn in Backlighting category for slides and prints. We will view the results of July s OPEN contest. August 17 - Meeting at Parker College. PROGRAM - David Wille, a member of the Plano Photography Club, will give a special program on Night Photography to focus on and give us tips for our upcoming competition. September 7 - Meeting at Parker College. CONTEST -Turn in OPEN category for slides and prints. We will view the results of last month s turn in, Backlighting. September 18 - FIELD TRIP - Field trip to the Dallas Arboretum. More details will follow as the date approaches. September 21- PROGRAM - Irwin Lightstone will present a program on Macro photography. Please contact the other people to decide who will bring drinks, etc., so everyone doesn t bring the same thing. Thank you. THRU THE LENS DALLAS CAMERA CLUB FIELD TRIPS There will be no field trip this month. Turn-ins for the Scavenger Hunt are due on July 6th or 20th. Please turn in only one image for each of the six categories of the scavenger hunt. Label each image so that it is easy to determine to which category it is being submitted. The digital slide show for the Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie field trip will be shown at the July 20th meeting. Annie Leibovitz: Women Photographs The second installment of Annie Leibovitz: Women photographs is currently on display at the Women s Museum at Fair Park. The second installment of thirty photos features such famous women as Elizabeth Taylor, Hillary Clinton, Martha Stewart and Rosie O Donnell, juxtaposed with portraits of unknown women, including coal miners, soldiers and athletes. Each picture shares it own compelling story. To celebrate and open this second exhibit, an evening reception will be held on Thursday, July 8 from 6 pm to 9 pm. Refreshments will be served, award-winning photographers will speak in the Auditorium and a documentary on Annie Leibovitz will be shown. The Dallas Camera Club has been invited to participate at this event by manning a table and handing out literature to promote our club. Plan to attend this event. Meet other photographers and see some excellent portraits of known and unknown women through the lens of Annie Leibovitz. Competition Subjects for the Club Year May 4th - Open June 1st - Architectural Detail July 6th - Open August 3rd - Backlighting September 7th - Open October 5th - Nighttime Images November 2nd - Open December 7th - Macro January 4th - Open February 1st - Water ( vapor, frozen, liquid) March 1st - End of Year Dallas Zoo 2nd Annual Photography Contest The Dallas Zoo s 2nd annual photography contest, Feathers Fur and Scales is currently underway. Entry fee for entering this contest is $15. Up to three 8X10 prints may be entered. Only photographs taken at the Dallas Zoo between March 29, 2004 and September 30, 2004 are eligible for competition. All photo entries must be received by the Dallas Zoological Society by 5 pm on September 30, For more details on contest information go to 2
