1 Callanwolde Supply Lists for Summer Quarter 2014 Please read these instructions prior to purchasing your supplies: If you have registered for any of these classes and you need further information concerning your supplies, please contact the Registration Office at You will be given information as to how to contact your instructor. The posting of these supply lists on our website does NOT insure that classes have met minimum enrollment requirements. If you shop for supplies early, please hold on to any receipts in the event that your class does not meet minimum enrollment. Your class may be cancelled and you may need to return your purchases. The Registration Office will notify you at least one day in advance if your class should cancel. 5 Absolutely Beginning Painting: Techniques & Media Instructor: Suzy Ferriss ACRYLIC PAINTS You will need at the minimum the 3 primaries (red, yellow, blue), the 3 secondaries (orange, green, violet), and white and black. I advise that you purchase a 12 step color wheel from the art supply store or find a color wheel in an art text which you can use as a reference when purchasing your supplies. (Try to match your paints to the colors on the color wheel as closely as possible.) You can buy the tubes of paint individually or in a set. The purchase of additional colors is optional. Liquitex makes a good line of acrylic paints. Some recommended colors are: titanium white, ivory black, cadmium red light, yellow light hansa, cadmium yellow light, cobalt blue, prism violet, cadmium orange, and light green permanent. YOUR CHOICE OF AT LEAST 1 OTHER PAINTING MEDIA. Suggestions include watercolors, gouache, colored inks, or oil paints. COLORED MARKERS are useful also, as they can be used with water like watercolors. 3 OR 4 SYNTHETIC BRUSHES SUITABLE FOR USE WITH ACRYLICS. Should be assorted rounds and flats, ranging in size from small detail brush to 1" flat. If you are working with watercolors, you will also need several brushes suitable for watercolor. If you choose oil paints, you will need to purchase oil painting brushes as well as prepared canvases (stretched or board).
