This course will require you to obtain materials to work with that are specific to your assignments. Mostly they will be low tech materials that you can acquire in a variety o collected from recycled or trash, or obtained in the art supply stores. Alternative mater emphasized in this course in order to explore materials and to extend the possibilities in making drawings and paintings as objects. DR225 Perspectives In Anatomy Materials Needed: Various Drawing Pencils, pens, markers, ink pens, etc. (sketchbook) Willow Charcoal (soft vine, jumbo and small sticks and compressed & variety of pencils) White, black, brown (bistre) Red (sanguine) conte 3 each. Two sticks of soft white pastel or chalk. A brush pen or something like. Pentel, Kuratake, Tombow all good. One box of Charkole type black pastels or 6-8 pieces. Blending Stumps (optional) Erasers (Kneaded, vinyl white and eraser sticks) Workable Fixative (bring to class and label your can) Black and white acrylic paint & couple of small containers for mixing. Two pads,18 x 24 white drawing paper (Canson s Biggie Jumbo is good) You may need more white but one each to start is fine. Three sheets of large (22x30) heavy drawing paper (Stonehenge, Reeves BFK) One 2 inch flat brush, one, 1 inch and one #10 round for acrylics Portfolio for saving and maintaining all work A course designated 11X14 Spiral Bound Sketchbook (Beinfang is good) to be used also as a notebook for taking notes during class and extended at home study. I recommend a mixed media as we will be making color studies for most work. A pad of tracing or vellum for fast edits and a variety of drawing tools and color tools. I would hold on buying too much until after the first week or so as there may be some needs that arise. You will also likely need some print credits, so please be aware that there may be a cost there. The sketchbook is the main thing to get though. I'll be grading your process work at the end of the semester so I like it all together in one consolidated place. Bring your sketchbook and the other requested work (see I sent) for the first day.
