Sketchbooks will also be used regularly for planning and for verbal and visual notes. - Internet access, something to take notes with (e.g. pencil and paper) - Pencil and Notebook to take notes and a camera if you have one Please bring a sketchbook and something to write with for our first class meeting. Please bring a sketchbook that you will use regularly for this course and something to write notes with. A more complete Materials List will be provided to students at the first class.

IL/DR225-1 Perspectives in Anatomy - Various Drawing Pencils, pens, markers, ink pens, etc...( for sketchbook) - Willow Charcoal (soft vine, jumbo and small sticks and compressed & variety of pencils) - White, black, brown (bistre)red (sanguine) conte 3 each. Conte pencils are a good option if you can find them. - Two sticks of soft white pastel or chalk. - A brush pen or something like. Pentel, Kuratake, Tombow all good. - One box of Charkole type black pastels or 6-8 pieces. Blending Stumps (optional) - Erasers (2 kneaded, vinyl white and eraser sticks) - Workable Fixative (bring to class and label your can) - Black and white acrylic paint & couple of small containers for mixing & water. - Two pads,18 x 24 white drawing paper (Canson s Biggie Jumbo is good) You may need more white but one each to start is fine. - Three sheets of large (22x30) heavy drawing paper (Stonehenge, Reeves BFK) - One 2 to 2 ½ inch flat brush, one, 1 inch and one #10-12 round for acrylics Portfolio for saving and maintaining all work - A (course designated) 11X14 Spiral Bound Sketchbook (Beinfang is good) to be used also as a notebook for taking notes during class and extended at home study. - A 20X24 drawing board/hardboard and some clips - A pad Tracing paper or Vellum 11x14 - A utility knife/exacto - A butter knife & a couple of sculpting tools, can get an inexpensive set for clay, or make some. - Artist tape, masking or blue tape - A 2-3 foot piece of string and ½ inch washer from hardware (I will provide An 8x10 piece of matt board (I will provide) - A camera for photographing work (phone camera is fine) - $10 in school print credits (you may be asked to print materials) - Vinyl gloves &/or a dust mask (optional) charcoal and clay can bother some people. - A mirror or set of mirrors, smaller and full length. Smaller ones can be purchased at dollar type stores.

Sharpies or other preferred inking pens are fine, be sure there are some BIG ones large/chisel tip (Nothing pointed, big for coverage) 6-8 medium tip, 6-8 fine - An 11x14 spiral bound sketchbook. - A variety of drawing pencils, erasers sharpeners etc. Be sure to have some regular HB pencils. - A good 18in metal cork backed ruler and a right angle. - 2 pads of tracing paper 12 x 16 or closest size is best. - A couple of pieces of 22 x 30ish double thick smooth illustration board. Matt board can work fine as well. - A variety of color materials (paints, pastels etc, not just markers) of your choice.. I recommend tube acrylic, gouache or watercolor paint. Winsor Newton, Liquitex, Golden, & Holbein are all nice paint with quality pigment. As we will not use these in class right away I will review. - Decent brushes and gesso, a pallet, rags water container etc. - If you like oil paint you will need a drying agent like Liquin and some natural/soft brushes. - A few good [dark drawing pencil] ( black pen or fine marker - A highlighter marker comes in handy too - A folder or thin 3-ring binder to organize class handouts, sketches, etc. - A sketch pad with graph, grid, or dot paper or [make you're own] ( - A smartphone, new or old, for testing webpages For color, bring preferred paint and brushes first day, we may use we may not but I want to see what you have. the instructor with any questions or concerns at justin.gagne@montserrat.edu

Tape around edges. I will provide some India ink, black tape and various other materials and tools throughout the semester, but you will need to pay small amounts for the cost of these items. me with any questions: barbara.moody@montserrat.edu Roy, R. FN115-A 2D Design - Paper This 300 level course requires good paper. You ll need at least 20 sheets of paper like Stonehenge (22 x 30 and/or 30 x 44 ) over the course of the semester. To save you time, the 22 x 30 Stonehenge paper will be available in class for sale at cost ($2.75/sheet.) Please bring money to purchase it. Paper is a recyclable investment-- if the drawing doesn t work out, you can use the other side, or gesso over it. Other papers used in this class may include Yupo, tracing, vellum, mylar, Bristol, and larger scale paper cut from a roll (These are also available for purchase in class). - Sketchbook to record your ideas - Masonite drawing board (24 x 32 or larger), or make sure you get to class early enough to find one. Some students prefer to work directly on the wall instead of using an easel and board.
