2 Painting Beginning in Acrylic, Intermediate/Adv: Personal Style, Abstract, Portrait Painting (Basic list for all teachers except as noted) Drawing Materials: 16 X 20 Inch drawing pad Extra soft thin and thick vine charcoal and a kneaded eraser Oil/Acrylic Paint Colors: Cadmium Yellow Light or Medium Yellow Ochre or Raw Sienna Ultramarine Blue Cadmium Red Light or Medium Alizarin Crimson Viridian Green Burnt Sienna Mars Black (for R. Collins classes) Titanium White (large tube) Intermediate Classes: The colors below are optional for beginning students and usually on the intermediate palette. Add colors you like! 4 Color Fundamentals Class Students will work in the medium of their choice: Watercolor: Good quality tube paints such as Windsor Newton Winsor yellow Cadmium yellow deep Alizarin crimson Cadmium scarlet Cerulean blue Ultramarine blue Burnt sienna Burnt umber White plastic mixing palette with at least 12 wells 2 clean containers for water Clean, lint-free rags 9 x 12 watercolor block of cold-pressed, acid-free paper at least 90LB Masking or artist s tape Assortment of natural or synthetic fiber brushes for watercolor, ex. #10, #6 rounds and one small and one 1 flat Acrylic: Titanium white Cadmium red (may substitute Napthol Red) Alizarin crimson ( sub: Quinacridone Red) Ultramarine blue Pthalo blue Cadmium yellow light (sub: Hansa or Lemon yellow) Burnt sienna Burnt umber Danforth Art School Page 4

Substitute two small jars with tight lids for water containers. Add Turpenoid or other eco-friendly oil painting solvent.
